Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteYes. Treat Undertale music as copyrighted and permission-dependent. Toby Fox’s official UNDERTALE/DELTARUNE music policy says not to re-upload the soundtracks, limits commercial use of sound effects and heavy sampling, and names specific licensing routes for cover songs and sheet music. It does not grant blanket permission for every video, livestream, or commercial use.
What the official music policy says
The official help page gives specific permissions and restrictions rather than a general license to reuse the music. The guidance below reflects the policy available on October 8, 2026; its FAQ section is labeled “last updated Jan 29 2019,” while the music-policy section has no separate update date shown.

- Soundtrack reuploads: The policy says, “Please don’t re-upload the soundtracks anywhere.”
- Commercial sound effects and sampling: It says, “Please don’t use sound effects in your own commercial works, or heavily sample pieces of the songs.”
- Cover songs: It allows selling cover songs if they are properly licensed through Materia Music, but expressly excludes remixes and samples from that permission.
- Sheet music: It permits making sheet music for free or selling it through ArrangeMe.
- Live performances: It permits performances at conventions, concerts, and schools; for-profit ventures, such as an orchestra, need a license.
What that means for common uses
| Use | What the policy establishes | Practical next step |
|---|---|---|
| Listening to a soundtrack copy | The FAQ says buyers of the Game + Soundtrack bundle can download the soundtrack separately from the game. | Use the download for listening; the policy does not describe it as permission to redistribute or reuse the tracks. |
| Re-uploading original tracks | Explicitly says not to re-upload soundtracks anywhere. | Do not post the tracks as standalone uploads or otherwise re-upload them. |
| Using music in a video, livestream, podcast, or game stream | The policy does not spell out detailed permissions for these uses. | Do not treat its silence as approval; get confirmation from the relevant rights holder before relying on the music. |
| Using sound effects or sampling songs in commercial work | Commercial use of sound effects and heavy sampling are restricted. The stated cover-song permission excludes remixes and samples. | Do not assume a cover-song license route clears a remix, sample, or sound-effect use. |
| Selling a cover song | Allowed only when properly licensed through Materia Music; remixes and samples are excluded. | Confirm current terms directly with Materia Music. |
| Publishing sheet music | Free sheet music is permitted; selling sheet music through ArrangeMe is permitted. | Use ArrangeMe for a sale and check its current terms. |
| Performing live | The listed contexts include conventions, concerts, and schools. For-profit ventures need a license. | Confirm what applies to the actual event, including any venue, recording, or jurisdiction-specific requirements. |
Does buying the game or soundtrack give reuse rights?
No such reuse right is stated in the official policy. The FAQ describes a separate soundtrack download for people who buy the Game + Soundtrack bundle, but access to an audio file is not described as permission to repost it, sync it to a video, or use it in another work. Buying a game or soundtrack should not be treated as clearance for reuse.

The policy directly addresses reuploads, commercial sound-effect use, heavy sampling, covers, sheet music, and certain live performances. It does not give detailed rules for every online video, livestream, podcast, game stream, monetized fan project, or private use. If your planned use is not expressly covered, ask the relevant rights holder or named licensing service for confirmation before publishing or performing it. The official policy is at undertale.com/help/.
