Yes. In Terraria, Volcano is the weapon formerly named Fiery Greatsword. The change came with version 1.4.4.
What was Volcano called before?
Its former name was Fiery Greatsword. The Terraria Japan Wiki’s reproduction of the 1.4.4 release notes records the change: “Fiery Greatsword’s name has been changed to Volcano”.
What changed besides the name?
The 1.4.4 notes also say Volcano gained a fiery explosive area-of-effect hit effect. When it strikes an enemy, the effect deals additional damage to that target and nearby enemies. This is a separate gameplay change, not part of the weapon’s name.
