For the same fruit, Wine sells for more than Jelly when its base price is above 50g; Jelly sells for more when the base price is below 50g. At exactly 50g, they tie. This compares the sale price of one unaged item—not how much a machine can produce over time.
How to compare Wine and Jelly prices
Wine sells for three times the fruit’s base price, while Jelly sells for twice the base price plus 50g. The Stardew Valley Wiki documents these formulas for Wine and Jelly.
Let the fruit’s base price be x. The prices are equal when 3x = 2x + 50, which gives x = 50g. The 50g cutoff is derived from the formulas, rather than a separately published game statistic.
| Fruit base price | Wine price | Jelly price | Higher unaged sale price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Below 50g | 3 × base price | 2 × base price + 50g | Jelly |
| Exactly 50g | 3 × base price | 2 × base price + 50g | Tie |
| Above 50g | 3 × base price | 2 × base price + 50g | Wine |
The Wiki pages used here do not establish a specific game-version or platform boundary for these formulas. Mods may change the results.

Which makes more per day?
A higher price for one item does not automatically mean more gold from a machine over time. The Keg takes 10,000 in-game minutes—about seven days—to make Wine. A Preserves Jar takes 4,000 minutes—about two to three days—to make Jelly.
The Wiki’s Keg productivity comparison says Preserves Jars can outpace Kegs by processing-time productivity, even when Kegs have a higher maximum value per item. Its comparison notes exceptions for Hops and Wheat; those are not fruit-to-Wine-versus-Jelly comparisons. So if you are deciding how to use limited machines, consider how many cycles each can complete as well as the sale price of one product.
How Cask aging changes the comparison
Wine can be aged in a Cask, unlike Jelly in the comparison here. Iridium-quality Wine is worth twice its base Wine price after 56 days of aging, or two in-game seasons, according to the Wiki’s Wine page. That raises Wine’s eventual per-item sale price, but requires keeping a Cask occupied for the aging period.

Jelly’s finished price is based on the fruit’s base price; the quality of the fruit used does not change Jelly’s sale price. The Wiki’s Keg productivity baseline excludes Tiller and Artisan profession effects. If you are comparing profits with professions, include those modifiers explicitly rather than treating the baseline as a profession-adjusted result.
