The figures listed for the two weapons are not a controlled, like-for-like comparison. The Last Prism page reports up to 15,000 DPS against a single Target Dummy. The Zenith page reports around 20,000–30,000 DPS in regular combat and describes higher results under particular optimized conditions. Those numbers depend on different targets, equipment, buffs, positioning, and other assumptions; they should not be used to calculate a precise damage gap between the weapons.
How their attacks feel in combat
Zenith: fast, cursor-directed swords
Zenith sends sword projectiles toward the cursor. They can pass through blocks and pierce enemies, and they home in on nearby targets. This gives the weapon a flexible attack pattern that can reach enemies through terrain and connect with multiple targets.

Last Prism: a beam that builds to full power
Last Prism fires six rainbow beams that rotate and converge over three seconds. Once fully converged, the beam deals 300% of the weapon’s listed damage per hit. It rewards maintaining its attack as the beams gather, rather than delivering its full concentrated effect immediately.
Last Prism’s mana cost
Last Prism consumes mana while firing, with mana use increasing as its beams converge. The Official Terraria Wiki lists the fully charged rate as 144 mana per second. That sustained cost makes mana supply and recovery important considerations for a magic build.

Which is harder to get?
Zenith requires a long crafting progression
Zenith is crafted from a complex progression of swords. The component lists are described differently across the Wiki’s Zenith and crafting-guide pages, so an exact total depends on how components are counted; the practical point is that crafting it involves substantial sword progression.
Last Prism is a Moon Lord drop
The Wiki’s drop table lists Last Prism at a 20% chance from Moon Lord. That makes it a post-boss drop rather than a weapon assembled through Zenith’s extended crafting tree.

Which one should you choose?
- Choose Zenith if you want the stronger general-purpose endgame damage recommendation and are pursuing a melee weapon.
- Choose Last Prism if your build is focused on magic and you want its converging-beam attack, with mana management as part of the trade-off.
Both are post-Moon Lord weapons, but they serve different builds. Zenith wins the broad comparison; Last Prism remains a compelling option when class fit matters more than a general damage verdict.
