Why did Jade Raymond leave Haven Studios?
No public explanation for Raymond’s departure was given in the statements and reporting published in May 2025. Haven thanked her for her leadership and contributions, but did not say whether she resigned, was dismissed, or left for another reason. Raymond did not publicly explain her departure in the sources reviewed.
Bloomberg reported that she left weeks after an external test of Fairgames. Citing unnamed people familiar with the matter, Bloomberg said some developers were concerned about the game’s reception and progress. That is attributed context, not a confirmed cause of Raymond’s exit. Bloomberg’s May 15, 2025 report and Game Developer’s May 16, 2025 follow-up do not establish a reason.
What Haven said about her departure
A Haven representative told Bloomberg, in a statement reproduced by Game Developer: “Jade Raymond has been an incredible partner and visionary force in founding Haven Studios. We are deeply grateful for her leadership and contributions, and we wish her all the best in her next chapter.” The statement expressed appreciation but did not address the circumstances of her exit.

Who led Haven after Raymond left?
Game Developer reported on May 16, 2025, that Haven was co-led by Marie-Eve Danis and Pierre-François Sapinski after Raymond’s departure. This describes the leadership arrangement reported at that time; it does not confirm who leads the studio now.
How Haven Studios developed under Sony
Founded in Montreal in 2021
Sony Interactive Entertainment announced Haven on March 17, 2021, as a Montreal-based studio founded by Raymond, who was named its CEO. Sony said it would invest in Haven and its first, then-unannounced PlayStation intellectual property. Raymond described the opportunity as a return to her roots and a chance to create a new property with the team. Sony’s announcement set out Haven’s ambition to make games that bring players together for fun, expression, and community.

Sony announced an acquisition agreement in 2022
On March 21, 2022, Sony announced an agreement to acquire Haven. Its release said the studio was working on a PlayStation live-service experience and had more than 60 employees. Sony did not disclose the acquisition price or other terms. The announcement did not name the project Fairgames; that title appeared in later reporting. Sony’s acquisition announcement and a PlayStation Blog post welcoming Haven to PlayStation Studios described the move as a new phase for the studio.
What was known about Fairgames?
In May 2025, Game Developer described Fairgames as Haven’s unreleased first game and reported that it had no official release date at that time. Bloomberg’s account of an external test and developers’ concerns came from unnamed sources. The available departure-era reporting therefore provides context, not a confirmed explanation for Raymond’s exit or a definitive assessment of the game.

What happened to Haven and Fairgames after 2025?
The sources cited here do not establish Haven’s current operating status, its current leadership, or whether Fairgames remains in development, has shipped, or has been canceled as of October 8, 2026. The May 2025 reports should not be treated as a current release schedule.
