The game’s core appeal is a blend of investigating the environment and moving through it. As you assess a review or decide whether to play, look for details on how exploration rewards curiosity, how traversal and platforming feel, and whether combat and upgrades remain engaging over the campaign. Those aspects can matter more to your decision than a single overall score.
Is Journey to the Savage Planet worth playing?
It is a promising fit if you want a first-person adventure built around exploring an alien setting, with comedy and the option of online co-op. It is a less certain fit if you need a review grounded in firsthand testing: the available evidence here establishes the premise, platform listings, and reception snapshots, but does not establish how well any particular mechanic feels in play. Look for a review that names the platform tested and explains its experience with exploration, movement, combat, pacing, and co-op before treating its verdict as a match for your preferences.

Comedy is another personal dividing line. The premise uses a corporate expedition frame, so a review’s account of how the satire and jokes land is more useful than simply labeling the game funny. Pacing also deserves attention: variety across exploration, platforming, and combat is what can keep a long expedition engaging, but the listing alone cannot show whether that balance holds.
What do the reviews and scores say?
Metacritic showed a 74 Metascore from 57 critic reviews and a 7.0 user score from 154 ratings when accessed in 2026. Its platform critic scores ranged from 74 to 78 across PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Steam showed 89% positive from 2,812 English-language user reviews when accessed in 2026. It also showed 91% positive from 12 recent reviews; that recent sample is small and can change quickly. These are storefront user-review snapshots, not critic ratings or controlled studies, and they should not be compared as if their audiences and methods were identical. Steam reproduces PC Gamer’s assessment, scored 84: “Funny, fresh, and full of surprises, Typhoon’s debut blends genres expertly.” That is one critic’s concise positive view, not a substitute for a review that addresses the particular elements you care about.

Does it have co-op, and which platforms are listed?
Steam lists single-player and online co-op. That confirms the modes on the Steam listing, but does not establish whether co-op works the same way on every platform or how its implementation affects the experience. If playing with someone is central to your decision, check a review for your specific platform and confirm the current platform listing before buying.

Which review should you trust?
Use scores as a starting point, then prioritize reviews that identify the version played and explain their reasoning. A useful review should make clear whether it tested solo or co-op, describe the feel and variety of traversal and combat, and say how exploration and pacing hold up. This is especially important when comparing platform-specific experiences: an all-platform aggregate cannot tell you how a particular edition performs or how its co-op works.
