The safest fix is to identify the program showing the error and repair or reinstall that complete program with its matching installer. Do not download a standalone copy from a random DLL website, copy it into C:WindowsSystem32, or try to register it with regsvr32.
This file was commonly installed in the affected Mozilla program’s components folder. Current supported Firefox releases are not known to use this filename, so a modern Firefox installation is not a guaranteed source for it.
What causes the error
The most likely causes are:
- An old Mozilla application was incompletely installed, upgraded, or removed.
- An update left mismatched files in the application directory.
- Antivirus software quarantined the DLL.
- Disk cleanup or manual deletion removed part of the program.
- An old backup was restored without the complete application.
- A 32-bit application is being given an incompatible 64-bit component, or vice versa.
- The application itself is obsolete and no longer works correctly with the current Windows environment.
- A startup entry, shortcut, scheduled task, or file association still launches a removed Mozilla program.
- A dependency of
jsd3250.dllis missing, even though the error names this file. - The file is in an unexpected location because of malware or DLL hijacking.
Before repairing anything, check the filename carefully. jsd3250.dll is different from js3250.dll, jsj3250.dll, and jsd6450.dll. Those names can belong to different Mozilla components or builds.
Fix 1: Identify the application that launches the error
The DLL belongs to the program that installed it, not to Windows. The window showing the error often names the executable or application.
Look for:
- The title bar of the error dialog
- The application name mentioned in the message
- A shortcut you clicked immediately before the error
- The program shown in Task Manager
- A startup item that appears when Windows boots
If the message appears during startup, open Task Manager with Ctrl + Shift + Esc, select Startup apps, and look for an old Mozilla, Firefox, SeaMonkey, or unknown entry. Do not disable entries blindly. First inspect the likely item and note its publisher or file location.
You can also right-click a shortcut, select Properties, and review the Target field. The executable path usually reveals which installation is failing.
If the program is no longer needed, uninstall it instead of restoring an old DLL:
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps.
- Select Installed apps.
- Search for the old Mozilla application.
- Select the three-dot menu beside it.
- Choose Uninstall and follow the prompts.
For older desktop software, open Control Panel, select Programs and Features, select the application, and choose Uninstall, Repair, or Change if available.

If the error continues after removal, check the application’s old shortcut, Startup folder, scheduled tasks, and file associations. Removing the obsolete launcher is preferable to rebuilding software you no longer use.
Fix 2: Check Windows Security quarantine
A security product may have removed or quarantined the file. Do not restore it automatically. A quarantined DLL can be a genuine false positive, but it can also be an altered or malicious file.
To inspect Windows Security:
- Open Start and search for Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review entries related to the Mozilla application or
jsd3250.dll. - Open an entry to see its detected path and action.
If the detection points to the old application’s expected installation directory and you can verify the installer’s origin, contact your security vendor or use its documented false-positive review process. Restore the file only when its provenance is clear. Otherwise, leave it quarantined and reinstall the complete application from its publisher or a trustworthy official Mozilla archive.
If the file appears in a temporary folder, a user profile folder, a download directory, or an unrelated program folder, treat it cautiously. Run a full Microsoft Defender scan before attempting repairs.
Fix 3: Repair or reinstall the parent Mozilla application
This is the most reliable solution because the DLL may depend on other files from the same product and build.
Try the Windows repair option
For software that supports Windows repair:
- Open Start > Settings.
- Select Apps > Installed apps.
- Find the affected application.
- Select its three-dot menu.
- Choose Advanced options if shown.
- Select Repair.
- Start the application again.
For traditional desktop programs:
- Open Control Panel.
- Select Programs > Programs and Features.
- Right-click the affected Mozilla application.
- Choose Repair or Change.
- Follow the installer’s instructions.
- Restart Windows and test the program.
Reinstall the matching product
If repair is unavailable or does not help:
- Back up any needed browser profile, bookmarks, or application data.
- Uninstall the damaged application.
- Restart Windows.
- Obtain the same product family and compatible release from its publisher or an official Mozilla release archive.
- Use the installer that matches the application’s architecture and operating environment.
- Install the program completely, including its components.
- Start it from its new shortcut.
Do not copy a DLL from another Firefox, SeaMonkey, or Mozilla Suite installation. Even if the filenames match, the surrounding files, exports, dependencies, and architecture may not. A mismatched component can produce “not designed to run on Windows,” missing-export, or dependent-module errors.
If the installer offers to preserve the user profile, distinguish that personal data from the application folder. Reinstalling the program files should not require deleting the profile unless the product’s own support instructions specifically call for it.

Fix 4: Match 32-bit and 64-bit components
jsd3250.dll is associated with old 32-bit Mozilla-era software. Mozilla records also mention a separate jsd6450.dll during Windows x64 build work. The names are not interchangeable.

A 32-bit application needs its own 32-bit dependency set even when it runs on 64-bit Windows. Installing a 64-bit DLL beside a 32-bit program will not correct the loader failure.
To check Windows architecture:
- Open Settings.
- Select System > About.
- Review System type.
To identify the failing application’s architecture, check its documentation or installation folder. If you are unsure, reinstall the exact product release rather than attempting to select a DLL manually.
Fix 5: Understand the “specified module could not be found” message
When Windows says that the specified module could not be found, it may mean either:

This is another reason a complete reinstall is safer than downloading one file. If the DLL exists in the correct application directory but the error remains, do not move it around. Record the full executable path and application version, then reinstall the matching product.
Fix 6: Do not copy it to System32 or use regsvr32
jsd3250.dll is not a general Windows component. Copying it to C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64 can create conflicts and does not give the original application its correct component layout.
regsvr32 is also normally irrelevant. It is designed for DLLs that provide the COM registration entry point DllRegisterServer. Mozilla runtime and component DLLs are not automatically self-registering COM libraries.
If you run:
regsvr32 jsd3250.dll
and Windows reports that DllRegisterServer is missing, that is evidence that registration is the wrong repair method. It does not mean you need another regsvr32 command.

Fix 7: Repair Windows only when Windows has broader problems
Because jsd3250.dll is a third-party Mozilla file, System File Checker normally will not restore it. Use Windows repair commands only when you also see damaged system components, failed Windows features, update errors, or problems with built-in applications.
- Open Start.
- Search for Command Prompt.
- Right-click it and select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
DISM repairs the Windows component store, and SFC checks protected Windows files. If both complete successfully but the Mozilla error remains, return to the parent application’s repair or reinstall process.
Repeatedly running SFC and DISM without knowing what changed can waste time while leaving the damaged application untouched. Fix 8: Check drivers only for unrelated system symptoms
A graphics, printer, or chipset driver does not normally provide jsd3250.dll. Do not update drivers as the first response to this filename.
If you are also seeing display crashes, device errors, blue screens, or hardware entries marked with a warning icon:
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand the relevant device category.
- Right-click the affected device.
- Select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart Windows if prompted.
You can also select Properties > Driver to review the device status and driver details. Avoid replacing a working driver solely because a Mozilla DLL is missing.

If the error began immediately after an application update, cleanup operation, or software installation, System Restore may help when a restore point exists.
- Press
Win+R. - Type
rstrui.exe. - Press Enter.
- Select Next.
- Choose a restore point created before the problem began.
- Select Scan for affected programs if available.
- Confirm the restore point and select Finish.
System Restore rolls back system files, registry settings, drivers, and installed programs. It does not normally remove personal documents and photos. Afterward, test the affected application and reinstall it if its files are still incomplete.

Do not assume every missing-file error is malware. However, investigate carefully when:

- Antivirus repeatedly detects or replaces it.
- The file appeared after downloading an unofficial installer.
- The application was not intentionally installed.

Run a full security scan, keep suspicious copies quarantined, and reinstall the legitimate application from a trusted publisher source. Do not disable antivirus protection just to force an old DLL to load.
What to collect if the error remains
Before seeking further help, record:
- The exact error wording
- The executable name shown by the error
- The executable’s full path
- The location of any
jsd3250.dllcopy - The Mozilla product and release information
- Whether Windows is 32-bit or 64-bit

A standalone DLL from an unknown download site may contain malware, the wrong version, or the wrong architecture. It may also leave the application with other missing dependencies. Reinstall the original application instead.
Should I put it in System32?
No. Keep application DLLs with the application that owns them. Copying this file to System32 or SysWOW64 is not a valid general repair.
Should I register it with regsvr32?
Normally no. If regsvr32 says DllRegisterServer is missing, registration does not apply to this file.
