What Just Create SMP 2 includes
Just Create SMP 2 is presented on CurseForge as “The Official Modpack of Just Create SMP Season 2!” It is authored by mrbeardstone and distributed as a multiplayer pack for Minecraft 1.21.1 with NeoForge. The project is intentionally small: its goal is to keep the familiar survival game recognizable while adding the Create automation system and a limited set of quality-of-life improvements.
The design is closer to balanced Vanilla+ than to a heavily modified technology pack. You should not expect enormous structure overhauls, a radically different world-generation model, or dozens of unrelated machines. Backpacks and similar conveniences reduce inventory friction, while Create supplies the mechanical, transport, processing, and automation gameplay. Every included mod remains the property of its respective creator.

| Author | mrbeardstone | Use the author name to distinguish the pack from similarly named projects. |
| Minecraft version | 1.21.1 | Both clients and the server must target this game version. |
| Mod loader | NeoForge | A Fabric or older Forge profile is not compatible with this release. |
| Current listed pack release | 1.0.3 | Use the same release family on every client and on the server. |
| Server artifact | JCSMP S2 Server 1.0.3.zip |
This is the matching dedicated-server package; do not assemble a server from random mod downloads. |
The project and files pages do not publish a tested minimum RAM figure or a benchmark. Treat memory as a host-specific setting that depends on player count, view distance, simulation distance, other services on the machine, and the operating system.
Before you install
- Confirm that your launcher can install CurseForge modpacks and create NeoForge profiles.
- Plan to use Minecraft 1.21.1, not the newest Minecraft version shown by your launcher.
- Write down the exact pack release your friends will use. For a new installation, that is currently 1.0.3.
- Reserve enough disk space for the modpack, generated chunks, logs, backups, and future updates.
- If you are hosting, decide whether you want full control over files on your own machine or a managed service that handles the server environment.
- Back up an existing world before changing its modpack or loader.
Install Just Create SMP 2 on the client
Use the CurseForge app
- Install and open the CurseForge app, or another launcher that can install CurseForge modpacks.
- Open the Minecraft section and search for Just Create SMP 2.
- Verify that the author is mrbeardstone. This prevents installing a similarly named community project.
- Select the profile for Minecraft 1.21.1 with the NeoForge loader.
- Choose the listed release, currently 1.0.3, and install it as a new profile.
- Launch the profile once. This first run creates the instance folders, configuration files, and runtime assets.
- Close Minecraft completely before editing configuration files or copying a world. Files can be incomplete or locked while the game is running.
On the first launch, allow extra time for libraries and mod files to load. A slow first start is not, by itself, evidence that the pack is broken. If the launcher reports a missing dependency, check that the selected profile is the official 1.0.3 NeoForge profile rather than a manually edited instance.
Keep the client profile intact
Do not update individual mods simply because a newer version appears in the launcher. A modpack release is a tested combination of mod versions, configuration files, and loader behavior. Updating one component can create a mismatch with the server or with another mod. Stay on the published pack release until the pack author publishes a compatible update.
Do not copy a 1.20.x, Fabric, or older Forge world into this profile and assume it will convert safely. Minecraft version and loader changes can alter registries, world data, and configuration. If you are migrating an existing save, make a separate backup and test the copy first.
Download the matching server pack
For a dedicated server, use the files page for the project and download JCSMP S2 Server 1.0.3.zip. The filename is important: it identifies the server package that corresponds to the 1.0.3 client release. A server assembled from an unrelated mod list may start, but it is not the supported Just Create SMP 2 setup and can produce missing-mod or registry errors when players connect.
Keep the server release and client release in the same family. If you later move to a newer pack release, update the server and every client together, and make a world backup before the first startup.

Manual dedicated-server setup
1. Prepare a clean directory
Create a new directory dedicated to this server. Do not extract the pack over another modpack, an old NeoForge test folder, or a directory containing a different world. A clean directory makes it possible to identify which files belong to Just Create SMP 2 and simplifies rollback.
Extract JCSMP S2 Server 1.0.3.zip into that directory. Preserve the folder structure supplied by the archive. Moving individual jars into a different location can break relative paths, configuration discovery, or the launcher files.
2. Install the required Minecraft and NeoForge environment
The server pack targets Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge. Install the 1.21.1 NeoForge server environment specified by the pack and your hosting platform, then place or run the supplied NeoForge launcher files in the server directory. The project page does not publish one universal startup command; the correct command depends on the operating system, Java installation, and host control panel.

Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Use the startup script or launcher supplied with the server files when one is included. If your host requires a custom command, use the host’s documented NeoForge 1.21.1 launch format and point it at this server directory. Do not substitute a vanilla server jar or a different loader.
3. Accept the EULA
Start the server once so it can generate its initial files. It will normally stop and create an EULA file. Open that file, read the Minecraft End User License Agreement, and change the acceptance value only if you agree to the terms. Start the server again after saving the change.
4. Review server.properties
Open server.properties before inviting players. Set a clear server name and message, choose the intended game mode and difficulty, and review view distance and simulation distance. Lower distances reduce CPU and memory pressure; higher values let players see and process more terrain but increase the workload. Keep the default port unless you have a reason to change it, and record any changed port for your players.
Set administrative access using the server’s operator command after the server is running. Give operator privileges only to people who need them. Keep the world name and seed decisions documented so you can identify the correct save during backups.

- EXPLORE AND CRAFT — Discover biomes, resources, and mobs, then craft your way through a sandbox world full of surprises.
- SURVIVAL ADVENTURES — Face mysterious foes, travel across varied landscapes, and venture into perilous dimensions.

5. Set memory for your host
The project does not state a tested minimum RAM allocation, so do not treat an arbitrary number as an official requirement. Allocate memory according to your player count, render and simulation distances, world size, operating-system overhead, and any other services sharing the machine. Leave RAM for the operating system and the Java process; assigning all physical memory to Minecraft can make the host less stable.
Watch the server console and operating-system metrics during a real play session. Repeated out-of-memory errors indicate insufficient allocation or a workload that needs reducing. Long tick times with plenty of free memory point to CPU, storage, world-generation, or configuration pressure rather than a simple RAM shortage.
6. Start and test locally
Start the server with the supplied NeoForge launcher files and wait for the console to report that it is ready for connections. Join from a client on the same machine or local network first if possible. Confirm that the world loads, Create blocks can be placed, inventories behave normally, and no repeated error appears in the log.
Stop the server through its console command rather than killing the process. A clean shutdown allows world data and region files to flush to disk.

Self-hosting from home
A home-hosted server normally requires a stable local address for the machine, an inbound firewall rule for the Minecraft port, and router port forwarding to that machine. The exact screens differ by router and operating system, so use your equipment’s documentation. Test from outside your home network; connecting through the same local address can succeed even when internet forwarding is incorrect.
Do not expose unrelated services or administration panels to the internet. Restrict firewall rules to the required port, keep the operating system and Java runtime updated, and use strong credentials for any remote-management tool.
Hosting on a rented virtual machine
A virtual machine gives you control over files, startup scripts, backups, and network rules without relying on a home router. You remain responsible for installing the 1.21.1 NeoForge environment, applying updates, monitoring disk and memory, and securing the machine. Check the provider’s storage and bandwidth limits before generating a large world.

Connect players without version errors
- Give every player the exact Just Create SMP 2 release number, currently 1.0.3.
- Have everyone install the Minecraft 1.21.1 NeoForge profile from the same pack listing.
- Share the server address and port only after the server has completed startup.
- Ask players to remove conflicting manually added mods from the instance before testing again.
- If a player receives a missing-mod, wrong-version, or registry error, compare the profile’s Minecraft version, loader, and pack release before changing server files.
A client can sometimes launch successfully while still being incompatible with the server. The connection handshake checks more than the visible modpack name, so matching the complete release is safer than comparing only a few familiar mods.

Managed hosting through CurseForge
CurseForge documents a managed hosting route for supported modpacks that have a matching server pack. Its flow avoids manual server-file uploads and router port forwarding, which is useful if you want to play with friends without administering a machine.
- Open Minecraft in the CurseForge app.
- Choose the Servers tab.
- Select Host A Server.
- Find Just Create SMP 2 and verify that the displayed server-pack filename matches the release you intend to run.
- Choose a plan and region.
- Enter the server name and other requested details.
- Complete the payment flow and wait for the service to provision the server.
CurseForge states that this service is powered by Shockbyte and Tebex. The available plans, regions, limits, and recurring charges can change, so review the current checkout information before committing. No universal current price or geographic-availability list is established here.
Managed hosting does not remove the need for version discipline. Players still need the matching 1.0.3 client profile, and you should still back up important worlds before changing the server release.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Manual hosting versus managed hosting
| Decision factor | Manual server | CurseForge managed hosting |
|---|---|---|
| File and configuration control | Highest control: you manage the directory, scripts, properties, mods, and backups. | Control depends on the host panel and selected plan. |
| Initial effort | Install NeoForge, extract the server pack, accept the EULA, configure the server, and secure the network. | Choose the pack in the app, select a plan and region, enter details, and complete checkout. |
| Uploads | You download and place the server files yourself. | CurseForge’s documented flow does not require manual server-file uploads. |
| Port forwarding | Usually required for a home network, unless another networking layer is used. | CurseForge’s documented flow avoids home-router port forwarding. |
| Updates | You schedule backups, test pack updates, and replace server files. | The service handles infrastructure, but you remain responsible for selecting compatible pack releases and coordinating clients. |
| Backups | You choose the backup tool, location, retention, and restore process. | Backup features depend on the host plan and controls; verify them before relying on the service. |
| Regional choice | Determined by the physical or virtual machine you rent. | Selected from the regions offered during hosting setup; availability can change. |
| Cost | Depends on your hardware, electricity, virtual-machine provider, storage, and network. | Recurring plan cost shown at checkout; no fixed universal price is stated here. |
| Support responsibility | You troubleshoot Java, NeoForge, networking, storage, and modpack logs. | The host can assist with infrastructure, while modpack compatibility still requires matching releases and readable logs. |
Updates, worlds, and backups
Updating safely
Wait for a published Just Create SMP 2 release before changing the pack. Record the old release, stop the server cleanly, and make a complete copy of the world, configuration directory, and server files. Update the server first in a test copy, then launch it without inviting players. Check the console for registry or dependency errors and load several known areas before scheduling the live change.
After the server is updated, install the same release on every client. Do not let one player join with a newer individual mod while everyone else remains on the older pack.
Back up what matters
- World folders, including region and player data.
server.properties, permissions, and operator settings.- Pack-specific configuration files.
- Startup scripts and any custom launch settings.
- A text record of the pack release, Minecraft version, NeoForge version, and server port.
Keep at least one backup away from the live server. Periodically test restoring a copy; a backup that has never been restored is only an assumption.
Best Value
- Play and share with friends on console, mobile and Windows 10
- discover community creations in the new in-game store
- access new mini games and game modes through servers
Troubleshooting checklist
The launcher cannot find the pack
Search the complete name, Just Create SMP 2, and verify the author is mrbeardstone. If the launcher offers several Minecraft versions, select 1.21.1 and NeoForge. Do not install a similarly named profile and rename it.
The server stops during startup
Read the first meaningful error in the console rather than the final shutdown line. Confirm that the server directory came from JCSMP S2 Server 1.0.3.zip, that the NeoForge environment targets Minecraft 1.21.1, and that the launcher is using the required Java installation. Remove files copied from another modpack and retry in a clean directory.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Players receive a mismatched-mod error
Compare all three values: Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge, and pack release 1.0.3. Ask the affected player to launch the official profile without manually added mods. If the server was updated, update every client rather than downgrading one player at random.
Players time out
For a home server, check the host machine’s local address, firewall rule, router forwarding, and public address. Test from a network outside the home connection. For managed hosting, confirm that the service has finished provisioning and that players are using the address and port shown by the host panel.
The server lags while generating terrain
World generation can temporarily increase CPU, storage, and memory demand. Reduce view distance or simulation distance, avoid generating large areas with many players at once, and check whether the host is swapping or running out of CPU time. More RAM will not fix every tick-time problem.
Which setup should you choose?
Choose manual hosting when you need direct access to files, custom scripts, your own backup policy, or a machine you already control. It offers the most flexibility but makes you responsible for NeoForge installation, network exposure, security, monitoring, and recovery.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesChoose CurseForge managed hosting when the priority is a faster, simpler path from the modpack listing to a playable server. Its documented setup removes manual uploads and home-router port forwarding, but it introduces a recurring service cost and host-specific limits. In either case, the non-negotiable requirement is the same: every player and the server must use the matching Just Create SMP 2 release for Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge.
