Legacy of the Forge is a Kingdom Come: Deliverance II expansion about restoring and running a forge in Kuttenberg. To begin, reach the Kuttenberg region and visit the expansion’s quest marker. Walkthrough guides give a more specific timing: the marker appears after Main Quest 14, “Speak of the Devil.” The story has seven main quests, with separate guild activities alongside it.
How to start Legacy of the Forge
PLAION’s support guidance says you can start the expansion once you reach the Kuttenberg region by visiting its quest marker. The opening includes a cutscene flashback to a forge. Walkthrough sources narrow down the timing: PowerPyx places the marker in the eastern part of Kuttenberg City after Main Quest 14, “Speak of the Devil,” and a September 2026 KCD2.org guide says to look for a purple anvil near the Hole in the Wall after that quest. The more specific timing and location come from walkthroughs, not PLAION’s broad unlock guidance.

Quest order and additional guild activities
PowerPyx lists seven main story quests, in this order:

The story is not the same thing as the expansion’s guild activities. PowerPyx lists four activities separately: two “In the Service of the Guild” investigations, the “Ragman’s Dream” thieving contract, and the “Two Brothers” archery contest. How the forge and Blacksmith Prestige work
Blacksmith Prestige is the progression gate for forge upgrades, staff, and parts of the story. It is distinct from city reputation and the Craftsmanship skill. Groschen, meanwhile, pays for upgrades that you have already unlocked; money alone does not bypass Prestige requirements.

The expansion lets you customize the home with roof and floor colors, painted windows and facade, frescoes, vines, and statues. PLAION says these exterior changes are cosmetic. Some furniture does affect gameplay: its example is a particular bed that reduces skill-check difficulty by 2% for the next 24 hours. PLAION also describes more than 100 million possible design combinations; that is a stated design count, not a measure of gameplay outcomes.
Yard facilities and staff
The yard can include a casting or weapon-smithing workshop, smokehouse, alchemy table, horse-washing stable, and beehives. The story unlocks two assistants. Higher Blacksmith Prestige unlocks further upgrades and equipment. What to prioritize if you are short on Groschen
KCD2.org recommends prioritizing useful workstations, storage, and a bed before spending on decoration. That is a guide’s budgeting advice, not a required purchase order. For its specific Prestige advice, consult the current in-game upgrade requirements: the guide says Old Plans follows a Prestige 13 gate and installation of a mechanism, but its guidance may be affected by game updates.

KCD2.org describes “Adept,” the opening quest, as a theory section followed by a practical forge test. According to that guide, correct oral answers can allow a quality II result to pass; quality III is a safer outcome if answers are missed. Treat this as walkthrough advice, not a guaranteed result for every game version. The available guide does not establish a universal skill-level requirement for starting the expansion.

Can you miss anything?
The main forge storyline is not described as missable: PowerPyx says it can be completed after the main story. For optional content and rewards, the September 2026 KCD2.org guide flags several moments worth approaching carefully. These are secondary-guide warnings, not confirmation that every listed item is permanently missable.
- Make a save before the optional horse race in “Martin’s Dream.”
- Check the guide before turning in objectives tied to armor sketches or reward choices.
- For an investigation, the guide flags non-lethal evidence as relevant to an achievement.
- It also calls out the Old Kutna bell donation sequence and follow-up archery conversations.
