What the MLB The Show 26 reveal announced
San Diego Studio’s February 3 announcement covered several modes, not just batting and pitching. The feature list below reflects what the studio announced, rather than independent performance testing. Read the PlayStation Blog reveal.

Road to the Show
Road to the Show expands amateur play with 11 additional college teams, bringing the total to 19 schools, and adds the officially licensed NCAA Men’s College World Series format and bracket. New progression goals and the Road to Cooperstown path follow a player from high school toward the Hall of Fame. The official game manual describes the broader progression as moving through high school, college and the minors toward the major leagues and Hall of Fame: MLB The Show 26 manual.
Diamond Dynasty
Diamond Dynasty adds World Baseball Classic content, including Tokyo Dome and Estadio Hiram Bithorn, alongside an overhaul to Mini-Seasons and new rewards, programs, collections and live-service updates. The manual says internet access is required for all Diamond Dynasty sub-modes. Some online modes also require a platform subscription: PlayStation Plus, Xbox Game Pass Core or Ultimate, or Nintendo Switch Online, as applicable. Memberships are sold separately.

On-field gameplay
Announced gameplay additions include Big Zone Hitting, Bear Down Pitching, new pitcher and fielder attributes, a Catcher Pop Time attribute, and a Plate Coverage Indicator sensitivity slider. The reveal also lists three stadiums—Tokyo Dome, Estadio Hiram Bithorn and Terrapin Park—and more than 500 new gameplay animations. San Diego Studio specifically noted that catcher animations were recaptured.
Release date and early access: the dates have passed
The announced launch date was March 17, 2026. Digital Deluxe early access was scheduled to start March 13, four days earlier. These were release-era dates; they do not indicate that early access or preorders remain available. Nintendo’s Switch announcement listed a regular launch price of $59.99, which is historical pricing rather than a current quote. Nintendo’s MLB The Show 26 announcement.

What the announced preorder discount required
The February 3 reveal announced a 10% loyalty discount on the Digital Deluxe preorder for buyers who had purchased any digital MLB The Show release since MLB The Show 21. The offer required signing in and buying on the same platform as the qualifying purchase; the discount was reflected in the cart. On Nintendo Switch, qualifying purchase history began with MLB The Show 22. This was a limited launch-era promotion, not a currently available discount.

The announced platforms were PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. PlayStation’s product FAQ states there is no PS4 version; it also says the Switch version is compatible with Nintendo Switch 2.
