The Thunderstone is a Kuttenberg-region side quest that begins with Kona in Grund. To get the genuine stone, follow the lead from Horschan through Peter and Hensel to Mlada in Suchdol; Thomlin’s stone is fake. Mlada’s exchange requires helping her husband, and the quest ends with a choice between giving the stone to Kona, returning it to Thomlin, or keeping it.
Where does The Thunderstone quest start?
Go to Grund in the Kuttenberg region and speak with Kona. PowerPyx lists completion of Main Quest 14, “Speak of the Devil,” as a requirement for starting The Thunderstone. A guide updated in September 2026 describes availability as varying between saves, so if Kona has no quest dialogue, ask Innkeeper Grosch for local news and check your journal and map for the current state of the quest. PowerPyx’s walkthrough and the updated guide differ on the start trigger.

How do you expose Thomlin’s fake Thunderstone?
Follow the lead to Thomlin in Horschan. Kona’s description of the genuine stone gives Henry grounds to question whether Thomlin’s object is authentic: it is not. The wagered fight is one way to progress, but walkthroughs also describe dialogue and inspection routes. Pickpocketing the fake does not yield the genuine Thunderstone or resolve the search; continue following the quest lead instead. PowerPyx and the updated walkthrough cover these routes.
Where is Hensel in KCD2 Thunderstone?
The investigation leads from Peter to a military camp northeast of Raborsch, where Hensel is being held. You do not need to clear the entire camp to reach him. The updated walkthrough describes stealth, dialogue, ransom, and combat as possible approaches; these are guide tactics, not guaranteed outcomes for every character or game version. GamerGuides suggests leaving Mutt away from the camp and using grass or buildings for cover.

- Question Peter and follow the resulting lead toward the camp near Raborsch.
- Get into the camp and free Hensel using an approach that suits your character.
- Speak with Hensel after freeing him. Merely untying him may not advance the journal or provide the lead to Mlada.

Is the Two Dead Trees cache the real Thunderstone?
No. The Two Dead Trees cache is optional and is not the genuine stone needed to complete the main search. Guides disagree on its precise position and reported payout: one places a pot near a ram skull east of Raborsch, while another describes the stash as south of Raborsch and reports 348 Groschen. Follow the in-game marker rather than relying on either location description as universal. The updated guide and GamerGuides treat it as a side cache.

How do you get the genuine Thunderstone from Mlada?
Hensel’s lead points to Mlada in Suchdol. She will exchange the real Thunderstone for help with her husband Peter, starting the related task Primum Nil Nocere. You must examine and treat Peter, then give the task time to progress before returning to Mlada.
- Accept Mlada’s request and examine Peter. The task walkthrough identifies anxiety as the issue and describes examination checks that can affect the outcome.
- Use a Chamomile Brew as part of the treatment. The walkthrough also mentions possible additional checks, so follow the journal and available dialogue for your Henry.
- Wait about one in-game day, then return to Mlada and check in. The guide recommends saving before the examination because failed checks may affect whether she hands over the stone.

Who should get the KCD2 Thunderstone?
Once you have the real stone, the available outcomes are to give it to Kona, return it to Thomlin, or keep it. The rewards below are reported by walkthroughs rather than official quest documentation. The reported stamina benefit and potential future uses for keeping the stone are specifically from the 2026 secondary guide.

Can you finish The Thunderstone after the story?
The available walkthroughs establish the quest route and its reported start conditions, but do not establish whether it remains completable after the main story in every save or game version. If you are checking a late-game save, use the journal and map marker to see whether Kona’s quest and its leads remain active; do not assume the optional cache or Thomlin’s fake will substitute for the genuine stone.
Warhorse Studios’ Patch 1.4 notes describe fixes and improvements across quests but do not name The Thunderstone in the passage reviewed. For game edition context, consult the official Kingdom Come: Deliverance II site; it is not a quest walkthrough.
