What critics thought of Kingdom Come: Deliverance
Critics commonly praised the game’s historically grounded medieval world, simulation depth, consequential choices, and distinctive approach to open-world role-playing. The same ambitions could make the experience demanding or slow, while bugs, technical issues, and imperfect polish appeared as recurring reservations in review excerpts.

The PC aggregate’s review distribution shows a largely positive but not unanimous response: 38 positive, 20 mixed, and 2 negative reviews among the 60 counted by Metacritic when accessed in 2026. These figures describe the page’s current snapshot, not a fixed historical total. Metacritic’s PC critic reviews and PS4 critic reviews show their respective platform totals.
Why do the PC and PS4 scores differ?
The aggregates are based on different platform-specific review samples: Metacritic lists 60 PC reviews and 30 PS4 reviews. The score difference alone does not establish why critics rated the versions differently. The available pages do not provide a matching sample for every platform, so avoid treating either figure as a score for all editions.
#1 Best Overall
- Huge realistic open world: majestic castles, wide fields, all rendered in stunning high-end graphics
- Nonlinear Story Solve quests in different ways and then bear the consequences of your decisions.
- Character development: choose your gear, improve your skills and earn new perks
Is the Next-Gen Update the same review listing?
No. GameSpot lists the original game as released February 13, 2018, and separately lists a Next-Gen Update with a 2026 release date and its own small critic-review sample. Those are distinct records and should not be combined when discussing the original game’s reviews. GameSpot’s game listing identifies platform families including PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.

The review themes point to a game suited to players interested in a demanding, historically grounded medieval RPG with simulation systems and meaningful choices. Its learning curve and slower mechanics may be less appealing to someone seeking streamlined combat or a consistently polished experience. That is an inference from critics’ recurring themes, not a claim based on current hands-on testing.
Rank #2
- A living, medieval world that dynamically responds to your actions but exists without you
- Realistic & extensive medieval combat. As close as you ever wanted to get to the real thing
- Intriguing story based on historical events inspired by the real-world challenge
- Exceptional level of graphic detail with a dynamic AI system, day and night cycles and changing weather patterns
The cited critic pages reflect review-era impressions; they do not establish how every current version performs after later updates. For a purchase decision, check the platform and edition being sold rather than assuming the PC or PS4 aggregate applies across releases.
