To finish it, choose an opening playstyle, complete the practice duel with Hans, then follow him through the lake-bank stealth sequence and escape after the ambush. Feeding Mutt is optional, but a favorable direct route is to ask Oats for food and promise something from the nobles’ feast. This walkthrough includes story spoilers and ends when the quest transitions into Fortuna.
Where Easy Riders fits in the story
Easy Riders follows Last Rites. Henry rides with Sir Hans Capon toward Trosky to deliver a message to Sir Otto von Bergow. An encounter with Captain Thomas leads into a playstyle choice and an early persuasion conversation. The quest’s escape sequence ends in a cutscene that begins Fortuna.

Choose a starting playstyle
The opening choice gives Henry an advantage in one approach; it does not lock him out of developing other skills later.

Pick the style that suits your preferred play. PowerPyx recommends Adviser for its walkthrough and achievement approach, while Gamer Guides advises matching the choice to your preferred way of playing. These are recommendations, not a universally best selection.

Answer Captain Thomas
During the exchange, you can present the party as envoys offering an alliance, question whether they look like bandits, or say soldiers can help with bandits. PowerPyx reports that the first two responses improve reputation with Thomas and the soldiers response lowers it. Gamer Guides notes that the response aligned with Henry’s strongest relevant stat can improve the chance of success. The reputation-favorable answer and the easiest skill check may therefore differ for your character.
Optional: feed Mutt
Calling Mutt to heel opens an optional objective to find food for him. You can complete it through Oats, pursue a trade for the sausage, or leave the objective unfinished.
- Favorable direct route: Speak with Oats about food for the dog, then say, “I’ll bring you something from the nobles’ feast.” Oats gives Henry a smoked sausage and reputation improves, according to PowerPyx.
- Threaten Oats: This can also obtain the sausage, but costs reputation.
- Promise food at Trosky: Oats gives neither sausage nor reputation for this response.
- Trade for the sausage: Ask what Oats would trade for it, win Tankard’s dice game to get Oats’ ring, then exchange the ring for food.
- Skip it: Feeding Mutt is optional and is not required to continue the main quest.
Prepare for and win the practice duel
Before speaking with Hans in the practice area, equip the Training longsword and the headgear requested by the inventory objective. PowerPyx names a padded coif and composite kettle hat. Follow the sword tutorial prompts, then win the duel.
PowerPyx identifies the Déjà Vu trophy or achievement for defeating Capon during practice as missable. Its suggested approach is to wait for the perfect-block indicator, block, and riposte; give stamina time to recover rather than attacking continuously.

Choose three skills at the fire
After the duel and camp conversation, select three skills to level immediately. The choices cover physical and social attributes, knowledge, stealth and survival-related skills, and weapon skills. One guide chooses Speech, Scholarship, and Sword, but those are a preference rather than required picks.

Crouch and follow Hans along the lake bank. When the woman doing laundry is in view, throw a stone or pebble away from her to draw her aside, then continue with Hans. This is a stealth option, not a mandatory success condition: PowerPyx says the sequence can continue even if you rush and alert her.
Escape the ambush with Hans
The story triggers an ambush, and Henry and Hans flee through water and woods without their normal equipment. Follow Hans, stay low when needed, and sprint when the game signals that archers have spotted you. Use the on-screen prompt for your platform when an action requires a button input.
Navigate the rocks
At the rocks, speak with Hans and scout the route. PowerPyx reports that taking the left path first, returning, and then trying the right path reaches Hans. Trying the right path first can lead to a reported looping route.
Handle the fallen-tree encounter
An enemy attacks at the final fallen tree. The guides report that this encounter leads to the same cutscene regardless of its outcome. Gamer Guides recommends attacking conservatively after a successful block because Henry is low on health. The cutscene transitions into Fortuna.
