To complete The Axe from the Lake in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, speak with Zdenyek the Mouth in Tachov, dig up the Broken Axe at the grave near Rocktower Pond, repair it at a blacksmith station, then return it to Zdenyek. Bring a spade or shovel before you head to the search area.
How to start The Axe from the Lake
Find Zdenyek the Mouth in or around the tavern at Tachov and ask him for a story. A walkthrough reports that offering a drink or paying 25 groschen can help secure the conversation; asking the innkeeper about local events is another way to reach the relevant dialogue. The task-specific wiki says the story genre does not change the tale, so you do not need to choose a particular category.

If Zdenyek is not available when you first look, check the tavern area again after progressing the local conversation. The in-game task description frames the story this way: “Zdenyek the Mouth, a farmhand from Tachov, told me a story of two brothers and a silver axe which was buried alongside one of them in this region.”
Where to find the axe from the lake
Track the task and travel to the search area by Rocktower Pond, west of Zhelejov and southwest of Tachov. Bring a spade or shovel: you must dig at the grave to retrieve the axe.

- Start at the pier by Rocktower Pond.
- Walk uphill between the rocks toward the old oak.
- Pass the stone mentioned in Zdenyek’s story and continue toward the hilltop grave.
- Look for the nest and the nearby patch of flat dirt, then dig at the marked grave.
The grave contains a bag with the Broken Axe. If the small map or route looks different in your game, follow the in-game task marker through the Rocktower Pond search area.
How to repair the Broken Axe
Take the Broken Axe to a blacksmith station and repair it using fastening material. The walkthrough specifies one unit; the Tachov blacksmith can perform the repair. The repaired weapon is called the Adorned Axe.

How to finish the task
Return to Zdenyek in Tachov after repairing the axe and report what you found. This final conversation completes the task. The walkthrough lists the Adorned Axe as the reward; other reward-item listings may vary with quest state or game version.
