The “Wolf Pack Tipster” task is most likely Sheep among Wolves, an optional Trosky task. To start it, finish Mutt’s side quest, wait 72 in-game hours, ask Innkeeper Betty in Troskowitz for news, then speak with Herdsboy Siegfried north of Tachov. Follow the blood trail west across the road from Siegfried, defeat the wolves, and bring back at least one wolf ear as proof.
How to start Sheep among Wolves
The task is listed by guides as Sheep among Wolves, rather than “Wolf Pack Tipster.” PowerPyx reports that it unlocks after you complete Mutt’s side quest and wait 72 in-game hours. The task itself does not officially begin until you agree to help Siegfried.

- Complete Mutt’s side quest, then let 72 in-game hours pass.
- In Troskowitz, speak to Innkeeper Betty and choose “Any news here?”
- Travel to Herdsboy Siegfried, north of Tachov. Exhaust his dialogue and agree to help with the wolves.
Where to find the wolves
From Siegfried, cross the road to the west and look for blood on the path. Investigate it, then follow the trail into the search area to locate the pack. Defeat the wolves and take at least one wolf ear.
What to give Siegfried and what you get
Return to Siegfried and choose the “About the wolves” conversation to hand over a wolf ear. PowerPyx lists the following reward and reports that handing in one ear or multiple ears gives the same reward:

INARA’s quest database also describes wolf-ear proof and returning to Siegfried. A comment on the PowerPyx guide alleges a higher reward for six ears, but that report is unverified and conflicts with the guide’s stated reward, so do not count on it.
Can you complete it without killing animals for Lent?
PowerPyx advises players pursuing Lent not to kill animals in combat. Its suggested approach is to fight the wolves unarmed and knock them unconscious, then take their ears; the guide says butchering unconscious wolves for ears does not count as an animal kill. This is guide-reported advice, not independently verified here.
After the encounter, check Statistics > Combat and confirm that animals killed remains at zero; also check that meat eaten remains at zero. If preserving those counters matters to your run, verify them before continuing.
What unlocks after the task
PowerPyx says completing Sheep among Wolves points Henry toward two shepherd follow-ups: The Lost Sheep and Carrot on a Stick. Its guide reports that both remain available at the point of no return in the main quest Oratores.
