This walkthrough follows the story route and flags the optional choices tied to the missable Hydra’s Head achievement.
Before starting The Lion’s Den
After Exodus, return to Jan Zizka at Devil’s Den. The Devil’s Pack must be completed if it is still outstanding. If Samuel has not reached the den yet, wait for him to arrive before continuing. The quest follows Exodus and is listed as main quest 22 by PowerPyx.

How to enter Sigismund’s camp
Travel to the camp at Opatowitz and speak with Katherine as directed by the objective. To enlist, find Stephen Crow. He introduces Henry to Captain Ditrich Katz, who gives Henry his assignment. The dialogue choices during enlistment do not prevent Henry from being accepted, according to Gamer Guides.
Where to find the missing soldiers and lost charter
Wake Myshek for a lead
Katz asks Henry to find two missing soldiers and recover the lost charter. At the infirmary, speak with Myshek. If he is asleep, a Strong Cockerel can wake him and prompt him to share information. Gamer Guides says the potion cannot be bought; it can be brewed using fresh valerian and two mint leaves.

Search Old Lhota
Follow the lead to Old Lhota, northwest of Maleshov. Search the barn for the chest containing the charter. The guides describe peaceful access as one possible approach, but the route can involve other methods; choose based on how much risk of combat you are willing to take. Return to camp with the charter.
How to investigate Chertan’s murder
After Henry returns, Chertan is found stabbed and Henry is asked to investigate. Examine the murder scene and search the suspects’ tents, then report back to Katz. Gamer Guides lists blood, a lock pick, the cannon and the floor near it, and a bloodied tub among the scene clues. GameSpot’s walkthrough discusses additional suspect and poison evidence in its The Lion’s Den quest guide.
There is no need to treat a single clue sequence as mandatory: investigate the available evidence and suspects rather than rushing to an unsupported accusation. If pursuing Hydra’s Head, also collect Lord Borumlaca’s bond, which Gamer Guides identifies as relevant to that achievement route.
How to save Musa at the trial
The trial begins after two in-game days have passed since the murder, whether or not Henry has finished investigating. GameSpot reports that a lawman arrives when that period expires and the proceedings go ahead. Complete the investigation promptly and avoid making claims you cannot support. Gamer Guides warns that three incorrect statements can lead to Henry being condemned.
For the standard story route, focus on presenting what the investigation supports and avoid speaking out of turn. The trial’s deadline is a quest-timing constraint, not a reason to skip the evidence gathering that can inform Henry’s testimony.

Hydra’s Head requires a different risk profile from simply completing the quest. Gamer Guides identifies accusing Grozav during the trial and killing Katz after the ensuing battle as necessary for this missable achievement route. The guide describes the chance to kill Katz as a one-time opportunity in this quest. These choices are optional and are not required to advance the main story.

Trigger the ambush and finish the quest
- After the trial, tell Katherine about the cannon’s movement.
- Continue with Katz’s departure; this triggers the ambush.
- Defeat the opposing soldiers and resolve Katz’s fate, keeping the achievement route in mind if you are pursuing Hydra’s Head.
- Speak with Zizka to leave for Devil’s Den. This ends The Lion’s Den and leads into Dancing with the Devil.
