The PlayStation Store listing that first drew attention to a PS5 version was an early sign of a real upgrade: Kingdom Come: Deliverance’s next-gen update launched on February 13, 2026. It adds a native PS5 version with 4K resolution, improved framerate and high-resolution textures. Existing PS4 owners can upgrade without charge, whether they own the game digitally or on disc, according to publisher PLAION’s support FAQ.
What the PS5 upgrade changes
PlayStation’s US Store listing describes the PS5 update as adding “4K resolution, improved framerate, high-resolution textures and many more.” PLAION’s FAQ gives more technical detail: the native PS5 and PS5 Pro versions target up to 60 FPS, use FSR upscaling and anti-aliasing, improve level of detail, and offer graphics settings it describes as comparable to PC Ultra. The FAQ also says loading times are reduced.

PLAION says existing owners of the PS4 or Xbox One game can upgrade for free, whether their copy is physical or digital. The FAQ also says current game saves and progress transfer automatically. Its stated coverage includes the base game and Royal Edition, as well as the DLC Collection and individual add-ons.

Upgrade entitlements can depend on platform, region and edition. If the upgrade option does not appear, check the relevant PlayStation or Xbox store and the publisher’s support directions rather than purchasing another copy immediately.

PlayStation’s US listing shows both PS4 and PS5 as supported platforms. The publisher also lists native Xbox Series X|S versions; the free upgrade policy applies to existing Xbox One owners as well.
Standard edition or Royal Edition?
The PS5 Store listing offers both the standard game and Royal Edition. The publisher’s FAQ lists Royal Edition content and DLC among the update’s coverage, including A Woman’s Lot, From the Ashes, Band of Bastards, Treasures of the Past and The Amorous Adventures of Bold Sir Hans Capon. Check which edition and add-ons are attached to your account before buying anything: owning the standard edition does not mean you automatically own DLC included with Royal Edition.
When accessed, the US PlayStation Store listed the standard edition at $29.99 and Royal Edition at $39.99. Those are dated US listing prices, not guaranteed current prices for other regions or later dates. PLAION said a separate physical next-gen edition was planned for later in 2026, without specifying a date.

Why the PlayStation Store listing made news
On January 28, 2026, Kotaku reported that PlayStation Store pages in Italy and Britain had added PS5-specific description text, including claims about 4K and higher-resolution textures, before a new release date appeared. At that point, the listing had not been confirmed by Warhorse or Deep Silver. The update’s February 13 launch and features are now established by PLAION’s support FAQ and the current PlayStation Store listing.
What kind of game is Kingdom Come: Deliverance?
PlayStation describes it as a story-driven open-world RPG set in medieval Bohemia. You play Henry, a blacksmith’s son whose family and village are attacked during a civil war. Quests can have multiple solutions and consequences, and combat can involve ranged attacks, stealth or melee. Character development and a world that reacts to player actions are central to the experience.
The PlayStation page lists single-player and offline play, plus DualSense vibration and trigger-effect support. Age ratings and language availability vary by region, so consult the store page for the country where you plan to play.
