Square Enix announced a late-2027 release window at D23 in August 2026. The trailer shown in 2026 appeared in a Nintendo Direct after Summer Game Fest, according to secondary coverage—not at the SGF show itself.
What Geoff Keighley reportedly said—and when
In June 2024, a Reddit post attributed a warning to Geoff Keighley that fans expecting Kingdom Hearts at Summer Game Fest were “setting themselves up for failure.” The post is a secondary attribution, not a verified transcript or recording, so the wording should not be treated as a confirmed direct quote. The Reddit discussion is evidence of the 2024 speculation, but does not establish Keighley’s exact words.

That remark, as reported, belongs to the lead-up to SGF 2024. It was not a statement about the 2026 event or a lasting prediction about when Kingdom Hearts IV would be announced.
