The Kingsman265 controversy began during practice for the January 2026 Deadpool Creator Cup, a Marvel Rivals event with a reported $40,000 prize pool. Kingsman was removed from his drafted team after arguments about team strategy, teammate zazzastack’s Black Widow pick and how seriously the creators should treat the competition. The organizer later said removing him was the wrong decision, but that reversal did not settle every disputed account of what happened.
What was the Deadpool Creator Cup?
The Deadpool Creator Cup was a creator-led Marvel Rivals tournament hosted by BasimZB and tied to promotion of Deadpool in the game. Polygon described an event featuring 48 influencers. Coverage reported a $40,000 total prize pool, with $18,000 for the winning team—not for one player. On a six-player roster, that would amount to roughly $3,000 per person if divided evenly, but that is only an approximate split, not a guaranteed individual award. Polygon’s event account and Kotaku’s report give those prize figures.
The teams were drafted on January 13, 2026, and the tournament took place on January 18. Kingsman265 was removed from his team before the event, so the dispute was about the lead-up to a past tournament, not an upcoming competition. Dexerto’s January 21 report covers the timeline.
Why did Kingsman265 clash with his team?
The immediate issue: team composition
During practice, Kingsman pushed for stronger team compositions and asked zazzastack, a Black Widow specialist, to consider switching heroes. The disagreement reflected two different approaches: prioritizing the game’s competitive meta and team needs, or letting players use their signature picks. Polygon reported that zazzastack had played well in the scrims shown, which helps explain why the dispute was not simply a matter of an obviously ineffective pick.

The deeper issue: how serious the event should be
The argument widened into a disagreement about expectations. Kingsman treated the prize-bearing tournament as a serious competition and said, “I’m just here to win the tournament, I need that money.” He also said he needed the money to help with college costs. Others, according to coverage, expected a creator event to be more relaxed and objected to how he communicated his demands. Kingsman acknowledged losing his temper and leaving practice to play ranked.
Cece said Kingsman made disrespectful remarks and spoke negatively about teammates to his audience. Those are participant accounts, not independently adjudicated findings. Kingsman’s posted video was edited, and other participants disputed that it presented the full picture; published coverage does not resolve every allegation. Polygon’s account describes the competing expectations and the limits of the available accounts.

Why was Kingsman removed, and what did the organizer say later?
BasimZB initially defended the removal, saying he had considered clips and VODs from different perspectives and wanted respectful conduct. In a later statement reported by PC Gamer, Basim reversed course: “I absolutely made the wrong decision.” He added, “I should not, as the tournament organiser, I should not have stepped in, regardless of what anyone was saying.”
That admission is significant: the organizer said removing Kingsman was a mistake. It is not a formal finding that every accusation made during the dispute was false, nor does it erase the disagreement over how Kingsman behaved. PC Gamer’s January 23 report covers Basim’s later statement.

What happened to the team and the people involved?
The team finished seventh out of eight. Zazzastack switched off Black Widow during the event, but that does not establish that her hero choice caused the result: Polygon also noted the team had limited wins and that her ping was high. No single player or pick should be treated as the sole explanation for the team’s placement.
Cece later apologized for her handling of the situation, including, as quoted by Dexerto, “I also apologize for calling Kingsman a loser.” Dexerto also reported that InfinityMice would not continue its partnership with her. Kingsman drew new viewers and donations after the story spread. NetEase developers also gave him in-game Units, which he said he planned to spend on Magik skins; these were digital items, not physical products.

The controversy also brought unwanted attention to zazzastack. Polygon reported that Kingsman urged followers not to harass her and that she described receiving abusive comments. Disagreement about a tournament does not justify targeting a player online.

The event put a serious cash prize alongside a creator-cup setting where participants did not appear to share a single standard for competition. A player pushing for meta-focused changes could see that as a reasonable effort to win; a teammate who built an identity around a particular hero could see the demand differently, especially if the team’s practice performance did not make the switch seem necessary. On top of that tension, the organizer’s role in intervening—and later admitting the removal was wrong—gave the dispute a second, distinct point of debate.

The most careful reading is that this was not just a fight over Black Widow. It was a clash over competitive priorities, communication and who had authority to resolve a team conflict. The public accounts provide important context, but they do not amount to a complete or independently verified record of every exchange.
