“kjabber.dll was not found” and other messages

- “Cannot register kjabber.dll.”
These are generic Windows loader messages. They do not identify the exact program that needs the file.

The 60-second answer
kjabber.dll is a legacy 32-bit application library belonging to kJabber, a Jabber network component developed by Stamina. Jabber is the historical name commonly associated with XMPP messaging.
It is not a normal Windows component. Do not download a replacement and copy it into C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64. The safest repair is to identify the old application or plugin that supplied the file, then reinstall that complete program from its original installer, installation media, or a known-good backup.

If the application was recently removed, updated, cleaned by antivirus software, or moved to another folder, restoring the parent application is more reliable than restoring one DLL.
What is kjabber.dll?
The file is described as “Obsluga sieci Jabber,” meaning “Jabber network support.” Historical records associate it with kJabber and the Stamina Konnekt software ecosystem.
The filename alone cannot tell you which installed program generated your error. A copy of kjabber.dll may have been used by an old messenger, plugin, or another program that included the kJabber component.

No current supported standalone Stamina download has been verified for this file. Treat any page offering only kjabber.dll as an untrusted source rather than as the original software supplier.
Why the error appears
The most likely causes are:
- The original kJabber or Konnekt-related application was removed incompletely.
- Antivirus software quarantined the file.
- Someone deleted, renamed, or moved the DLL.
- The application and DLL are from different versions or architectures.
- A dependency used by
kjabber.dllis missing. - The application folder or Windows installation has suffered corruption.
“Specified module could not be found” does not always mean that kjabber.dll itself is absent. Windows may be unable to load a dependency required by that DLL.
Fix 1: Identify the program that needs the file
Start here before changing Windows components.
Check the error context
- Close the error dialog.
- Note which application, shortcut, game launcher, or startup item opened it.
- Right-click the shortcut and select Properties.
- On the Shortcut tab, inspect Target and Start in.
- Write down the executable name and installation folder.
- Check whether the error began after an uninstall, cleanup, antivirus scan, system migration, or application update.
Also check the complete error dialog. The title bar may name the affected executable even when the body only mentions kjabber.dll.

Open the folder shown by the shortcut. Look for:
- The main executable
- A
plugins,modules, orcomponentsfolder - Other DLLs beside the executable
- An installer, repair program, or uninstaller
Do not copy a DLL into the folder yet. First determine whether the application is still present and whether its installer can repair it.
If you cannot identify the application, open Task Manager and select Startup apps. Disable only a startup entry you recognize, then restart Windows. If the error disappears, that startup entry points to the affected legacy program.

You can also inspect Settings → Apps → Installed apps and search for old messaging, communication, or plugin software. The exact host cannot be determined from the DLL filename alone.
Fix 2: Repair or reinstall the original application
This is the most likely definitive fix.
- Back up any profiles or data belonging to the old application.
- Open Settings → Apps → Installed apps.
- Find the application associated with the error.
- Select the three-dot menu beside it.
- Choose Advanced options if available.
- Select Repair if Windows provides that option.
- Start the application again.
If Repair is unavailable or does not restore the file:
- Open the application’s original installer.
- Choose Repair, Modify, or Install if offered.
- If no repair option exists, uninstall the application.
- Restart Windows.
- Reinstall it from the original installer, archived installation media, or a verified backup.
- Launch the application from its newly installed shortcut.
Reinstall the complete application rather than downloading kjabber.dll separately. The installer should place the correct private DLL beside the executable and restore any other files or registry settings the program requires.
If the application is obsolete and no installer remains, restore the entire application directory from a known-good backup. Do not use a DLL from a different product, a different release, or a different architecture.
How to tell whether this worked
The repair succeeded if:
- The application starts without the
kjabber.dllmessage. - The file is present in the application’s own folder.
- The program can perform the feature that required Jabber networking.
- No new “entry point,” “side-by-side,” or dependency error appears.
If the same error returns immediately, check antivirus quarantine before attempting another reinstall.
Fix 3: Check Windows Security quarantine
An antivirus scan may have removed an old or unsigned DLL. That does not prove the detection is a false positive.

- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review entries from the time the application stopped working.
- Open any detection associated with the application folder.
- Record the detected path, threat name, and action taken.
Only restore or allow the file if all of these are true:
- The file came from the original application installer or a trusted backup.
- You recognize the parent application.
- The file’s location matches that application.
- You have considered whether the old software should continue to run.
If you restore a quarantined file and Windows Security detects it again, do not repeatedly restore it. Remove the old program and obtain a clean copy of the complete application from a legitimate source. After restoring a trusted file, reinstall or repair the parent program so its other files are checked as well.

Fix 4: Check the file path, architecture, and version match
Historical records describe kjabber.dll as a Win32, or 32-bit, library. That matters because a 64-bit replacement is not a valid substitute for a 32-bit application.
Check the application directory:
- Right-click the application shortcut.
- Select Properties.
- Choose Open File Location if available.
- Search that folder and its plugin directories for
kjabber.dll. - If the file exists, right-click it and select Properties.
- Review Details and Digital Signatures, if present.
- Compare the file location with the application that produced the error.
A file that exists may still be unusable because it is damaged, belongs to another release, or has an incompatible dependency.
Do not put a 32-bit application DLL into System32 or SysWOW64. On 64-bit Windows, SysWOW64 contains 32-bit Windows system components, but it is not a general-purpose directory for third-party application files. The correct location is normally the private folder selected by the original application installer.
Fix 5: Check for a missing dependency
Windows may report that the specified module could not be found when a dependency of kjabber.dll is missing.
A dependency problem is more likely when:
kjabber.dllis visibly present.- Reinstalling the parent application did not help.
- The error changed to “entry point not found.”
- The application reports another missing DLL.
- The program worked before a system cleanup or runtime change.
First reinstall the parent application. Its installer may restore the dependency automatically.
If the complete error names a Microsoft runtime such as MSVCP140.dll or VCRUNTIME140.dll, download the appropriate Visual C++ Redistributable package only from Microsoft’s supported Visual C++ Redistributable downloads. A 32-bit application generally needs the x86 package even when Windows itself is 64-bit.
Do not install Visual C++, DirectX, or .NET simply because a generic DLL page recommends it. There is no evidence that any of those components specifically supplies kjabber.dll.
Fix 6: Use Windows repair commands only for Windows corruption
SFC and DISM repair protected Windows components. They do not normally recreate a private third-party application DLL.
Use them when other Windows files are also failing, Windows features behave incorrectly, or the problem began after broader system corruption.

Run DISM
- Open Start.
- Type
cmd. - Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Select Yes at the User Account Control prompt.
- Enter:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for the operation to finish.
- Restart Windows.
Run SFC
Open an elevated Command Prompt again and enter:
sfc /scannow
Wait until verification reaches 100 percent, then restart the computer.
If SFC says it found and repaired corrupted files, test the application again. If it reports that no integrity violations were found, that is normal when only the third-party application file is missing. Return to the parent application’s installer rather than repeating SFC.

Fix 7: Reinstall a related driver only if the application reports a driver problem
kjabber.dll is an application networking library, not a Windows hardware driver. Device Manager will not normally restore it.

- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Network adapters or the hardware category named by the error.
- Right-click the affected device.
- Select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart Windows if prompted.
If the device still fails, right-click it again, select Uninstall device, restart Windows, and allow Windows to rediscover it. For a branded computer, use the manufacturer’s official support page for the exact model.

Fix 8: Try System Restore after a recent system change
Use System Restore when the error began immediately after a cleanup, update, driver installation, or software removal and a suitable restore point exists.
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type
rstrui.exe. - Press Enter.
- Select Next.
- Choose a restore point created before the error began.
- Select Scan for affected programs if available.
- Review the changes.
- Select Next, then Finish.
- Allow Windows to restart.
System Restore can remove programs and settings installed after the selected restore point, but it does not normally remove personal documents. Microsoft explains the process in its System Restore guidance.
If System Restore does not help, reinstall the original kJabber-related application instead of copying a standalone DLL.

Do not run:
regsvr32 kjabber.dll
merely because an online repair instruction recommends it.

regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that provide the COM registration entry points expected by that tool. A normal application or plugin DLL is usually loaded privately by its host program and does not need system-wide registration.

A registration failure does not prove that kjabber.dll is corrupt. It may simply mean that the file is not a COM server. Use the original application installer unless the vendor’s documentation explicitly says that this particular DLL must be registered.
Why random DLL downloads are unsafe
A standalone DLL from an unknown source can be:
- Malware using a familiar filename
- The wrong 32-bit or 64-bit architecture
- From an incompatible release
- Missing its own dependencies
- Modified or damaged
- Unrelated to the program that produced the error
It may also replace the original error with “entry point not found” or another loader failure. Copying it into a Windows directory can affect other applications and make future troubleshooting harder.
The safe sources are the original Stamina-related application installer, genuine installation media, a known-good backup, or a legitimate vendor archive. No current official standalone download for kjabber.dll has been verified.
If the error still returns
Work through this checklist:
- Confirm which executable launches the error.
- Check the application’s own folder and plugin directories.
- Repair or reinstall the complete parent application.
- Review Windows Security Protection history.
- Remove any untrusted replacement DLL.
- Confirm that the application is 32-bit and that its private files match.
- Look for a second missing DLL named in the complete error.
- Check Event Viewer for application errors:
- Press Windows key + X.
- Select Event Viewer.
- Open Windows Logs → Application.
- Find an error at the time of the failed launch.
- If storage corruption is suspected, back up your files and check the drive’s health.
- If the software is obsolete, consider running it in a controlled compatible environment rather than weakening Windows security.
If the program works under one Windows account but not another, inspect per-user installation folders, profile permissions, and startup entries. If the file exists but still will not load, verify its full path, authenticity, architecture, and dependencies.

Is kjabber.dll a Windows system file?
