Konami is looking beyond the latest wave of Silent Hill releases, but it has not announced which games would make up the “second and third waves.” The phrase is attributed to series producer Motoi Okamoto in reporting on a recent Famitsu interview; it signals an intention to keep developing the franchise, not confirmation of specific projects or release dates.
What Konami has—and hasn’t—announced
In reporting on his Famitsu interview, Okamoto said the success of the first wave was a relief, but that Konami needed to think about second and third waves. The English wording was reported by MP1st and is not independently verified against a directly accessible transcript, so it is safer to treat the phrase as a paraphrase of his reported remarks rather than a confirmed verbatim quote. MP1st’s report and Famitsu provide the reporting context.

Neither report identifies titles, platforms, release windows, budgets, or approval status for those later waves. Konami’s own investor report does document a first-game remake and SILENT HILL: Townfall as projects it was working on at the time of that report, and says it plans to develop the series further. Those named projects should not be assumed to be the undisclosed second or third wave: Konami has not publicly assigned them to either one.

Where the announced projects stand
Konami described SILENT HILL f as the first brand-new installment in the series in twelve years. The investor report also listed a remake of the original Silent Hill and Townfall as projects in development at the time of publication. The report establishes the projects’ status then; it does not provide a release date for either one.

Is Konami aiming to release a Silent Hill game every year?
Okamoto has described annual releases as an ambition, not a guaranteed schedule. In a Gamescom 2026 interview with GamesRadar+, he said: “Our aim is to, hopefully, have an annual release of new games.” The words “aim” and “hopefully” matter: they express a goal, not a commitment that a new game will ship every calendar year. GamesRadar+’s interview also discusses future projects without naming a complete slate.

Why new Silent Hill games may come from different creative teams
Konami has worked with external teams on newer entries and allows collaborators to develop their own interpretations of the series. In a PlayStation.Blog interview, Okamoto said Konami has internal storyline guidelines, but considers it important for each team’s developers and writers to study Silent Hill and build their own creative bible rather than rely on a thick, one-size-fits-all manual.
That approach helps explain why the newer games can differ in setting and perspective while drawing on the same franchise. Townfall is set on a fictional Scottish island. Its writer-director, Jon McKellan, said Scotland was familiar to the team and that its fog suited the series. Okamoto also said co-publisher Annapurna Interactive introduced Screen Burn Interactive to Konami; he had played the studio’s earlier games Stories Untold and Observation.

- Experienced entirely in first person, explore, evade, and survive using a limited set of weapons and tools, including a pocket television used to tune into unstable signals. Evasion is tense; combat is frenetic, while narrative driven puzzles reveal a truth that refuses to stay submerged.
- SILENT HILL: Townfall is a full-length, self-contained psychological horror set against the cold, isolated backdrop of Scotland, 1996
How large is the recent Silent Hill revival?
Konami’s figures show substantial reach, but they count different things and cover different periods. They should not be treated as a like-for-like comparison.
- Konami said the Silent Hill series had more than 14 million cumulative sales as of December 2025.
- Konami reported more than 2 million SILENT HILL f units shipped worldwide as of April 22, 2026, counting physical and digital sales.
- Konami reported more than 6 million SILENT HILL 2 players as of April 24, 2026. That player count includes units shipped, store downloads, and subscription services, so it is not directly comparable with SILENT HILL f’s unit-shipment figure.
The series total appears in Konami’s Townfall announcement; the dated figures are in Konami’s performance announcement.

What players can take away now
There is evidence that Konami wants to sustain the franchise beyond its latest releases, along with two named projects in the company’s investor report and an expressed hope for annual releases. There is not yet a publicly identified slate of “second and third wave” games. Players interested in what comes next should look for specific title announcements and release details from Konami rather than reading the wave terminology as a release schedule.
