It combines sound shaping, drum programming, pattern editing, a KAOSS Pad and wireless collaboration; the later DS-10 PLUS is a separate release with expanded production features in a DSi-only mode.
What is KORG DS-10 for Nintendo DS?
KORG DS-10 is music-creation software released as a Nintendo DS Game Card. Nintendo describes it as recreating the classic interface of the KORG MS-10 analogue synthesizer, adapting synthesizer ideas for the DS’s two screens and touch controls. It is an interpretation of that interface, not evidence that the handheld reproduces every detail of the original hardware.
Nintendo’s regional listings give different launch dates: Nintendo Japan lists 24 July 2008 for Japan, while Nintendo UK lists 10 October 2008 for Europe. These dates refer to their respective regional releases, not a single worldwide launch.
Can you make music on the Nintendo DS with KORG DS-10?
Yes. DS-10 is designed for making and developing electronic music on the handheld. Its touch-screen workflow lets you move between sound design, rhythm and composition rather than treating the DS as a conventional game controller.

Shape sounds and connect the patch panel
You can adjust synthesizer tone using on-screen controls and draw patch-cable connections between jacks on the patch panel with the stylus. This makes routing part of the touch-based interface. Nintendo’s announcement describes the stylus as a way to draw those connections; it does not establish that a stylus is included with every used or resale copy.
Build beats and patterns
The software includes drumbeat editing and pattern controls, alongside a KAOSS Pad for improvising beats and melodies. A mixer provides channels for working with the different parts. Together, these features support a workflow of creating sounds, arranging rhythmic and melodic ideas, and adjusting their balance.
Save work and collaborate wirelessly
Nintendo UK’s product listing says the original DS-10 can save up to six tracks and supports wireless sessions with up to seven friends—eight players total. Nintendo UK’s 3 September 2008 announcement instead describes saving up to 18 sessions. The official pages use different terms, so tracks and sessions should not be treated as interchangeable measures of storage capacity.
How is KORG DS-10 different from DS-10 PLUS?
DS-10 PLUS is a separate follow-up, not an update that makes the original cartridge equivalent to the PLUS release. Nintendo Japan lists DS-10 PLUS as released on 17 September 2009 and identifies its Dual DS-10 mode as a Nintendo DSi-specific feature.

| Feature | KORG DS-10 | KORG DS-10 PLUS |
|---|---|---|
| Product identity | Original Nintendo DS music-creation software; Nintendo Japan lists a 24 July 2008 release. | Separate follow-up; Nintendo Japan lists a 17 September 2009 release. |
| Expanded Dual DS-10 mode | Not listed for the original. | DSi-only mode, according to Nintendo Japan. |
| Production capacity in Dual mode | The cited original product information does not specify the PLUS configuration. | Four analog synthesizer units and two eight-part drum-machine units, yielding a 12-track sequencer, according to Nintendo Japan. |
The extra synth and drum capacity, and the 12-track sequencer figure, apply to PLUS’s Dual DS-10 mode. They should not be attributed to the original DS-10. The cited product pages do not establish a complete compatibility matrix for DS, DS Lite, DSi and 3DS hardware, so they are not enough to make exhaustive system-compatibility claims.
Where can I find the KORG DS-10 cartridge?
For a physical-product search, “KORG DS-10 Nintendo DS cartridge” or “KORG DS-10 Nintendo DS game card” accurately describes the original product. Nintendo UK identifies it as a Nintendo DS Game Card, and Nintendo Japan says its Japanese release was sold online only through Amazon.co.jp. That is a historical sales-channel statement, not confirmation of current stock or availability.
