KRAFTON, the publisher behind PUBG, announced on August 12, 2024, that it had taken over Tango Gameworks’ business and acquired the Hi-Fi RUSH intellectual property, with Xbox and ZeniMax’s cooperation. The deal did not include Tango’s entire back catalog: KRAFTON-confirmed reporting said The Evil Within and Ghostwire: Tokyo were not part of the acquisition. KRAFTON later took over Hi-Fi RUSH service operations from Bethesda Softworks in November 2025.
What did KRAFTON acquire?
The August 2024 announcement covered Tango Gameworks’ business and the Hi-Fi RUSH IP. KRAFTON said it planned to integrate Tango’s development staff and continue work on Hi-Fi RUSH as well as new projects. The announcement described a business transition and employment succession, not a purchase of every franchise Tango had made.

According to contemporaneous Pure Xbox reporting citing KRAFTON investor information, approximately 50 development staff were included in the planned employment succession. That approximate figure is reported investor information; KRAFTON’s announcement itself did not state a headcount, and it does not establish that every former Tango employee transferred.

KRAFTON-confirmed reporting said The Evil Within, The Evil Within 2, and Ghostwire: Tokyo were not included in the deal. KRAFTON’s announcement said the studio’s existing game catalog would not be affected. In practical terms, the acquisition secured Hi-Fi RUSH and Tango’s business, but should not be described as KRAFTON acquiring Tango’s complete historical IP catalog.
