KRAFTON announced on August 12, 2024, that it had acquired Tango Gameworks and the Hi-Fi RUSH intellectual property. The deal did not include Tango’s entire back catalog: KRAFTON said the existing PsychoBreak titles and Ghostwire: Tokyo catalog would not be affected. In November 2025, publishing and service operation for Hi-Fi RUSH also moved from Bethesda Softworks to KRAFTON.
What did KRAFTON acquire?
KRAFTON’s August 12, 2024 announcement said it took over Tango Gameworks in cooperation with Xbox and ZeniMax, secured the Hi-Fi RUSH IP, and planned to incorporate the studio while transferring employment for development staff. Yonhap likewise reported the acquisition of the Tokyo-based studio, its developers, and rights to Hi-Fi RUSH. KRAFTON’s announcement and Yonhap’s report describe the transaction.
The announcement followed Microsoft’s May 2024 announcement that Tango would close. Microsoft had acquired the studio in 2021, according to Yonhap. KRAFTON described the acquisition as an investment in the Japanese game market and a way to expand its global presence; those are the company’s stated aims, not evidence of a particular commercial result.
Did KRAFTON acquire The Evil Within or Ghostwire: Tokyo?
No transfer of those catalog rights is established by the cited announcement. KRAFTON specifically said the existing PsychoBreak (known as The Evil Within in English-speaking markets), PsychoBreak 2, and Ghostwire: Tokyo catalog would not be affected. The supported description of the acquired IP is Hi-Fi RUSH; it would be inaccurate to describe the deal as a purchase of every franchise Tango created.

What changed for Hi-Fi RUSH players?
Beginning November 14, 2025, official publishing and service operation transferred from Bethesda Softworks to KRAFTON. A transition notice reported by Gematsu said a December 4, 2025 update was scheduled to change in-game elements to reflect the new operator, without changing gameplay content. Gematsu’s report on the transition reproduces the notice and FAQ.
- Existing saves, progress, achievements, purchases, and Steam DLC were to remain intact.
- Game Pass players could continue playing.
- The Bethesda.net connection feature was disabled; the notice recommended installing the December 4 update for smooth gameplay.
The report lists digital availability on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store. It does not establish that a physical edition is available. KRAFTON’s official Hi-Fi RUSH site credits KRAFTON and Tango Gameworks and identifies Hi-Fi RUSH as a KRAFTON trademark.
