Where to find Kranodath
Kranodath live in the Oilwell Basin. Begin by checking Areas 2 and 7. Guide listings differ on the other locations: Game8 also lists Area 13, while Shacknews lists Areas 2, 8, and 9 and notes that sightings can vary with time and weather. Treat these as reported possibilities, not a fixed spawn schedule.
When available, open the map’s Filter View, select Kranodath as your destination, and follow the current map location. This is more useful than relying on a memorized area list if the monsters are not where you expect.
How to get a Kranodath Skull
Hunt and carve in Low Rank
Carving a Low Rank Kranodath is a direct way to obtain the base skull. Game8’s 2025 table reports a 75% body-carve chance for Kranodath Skull and a 30% Kranodath entry in its Low Rank target rewards table. Those are guide-reported table values, not independently tested odds or a first-party Capcom drop table.

- Evolved Hunting Action – The series’ acclaimed action-packed gameplay is back and more exciting than ever! Hunters can look forward to tracking down monsters with an array of new moves, special abilities, equipment, and more. The action also now flows seamlessly from cutscenes to gameplay, resulting in a new level of immersion.
Use the March of the Kranodath quest
The optional, two-star quest March of the Kranodath asks you to slay six Kranodath. Game8 lists the skull as a possible quest reward, but does not establish that every completion awards one. It can still make a focused hunt convenient if you want a defined objective.
Trade with Yabran
Game8 reports that Yabran at Azuz can exchange two Auric Oil for one Kranodath Skull. The trader’s inventory rotates daily in-game, so this option depends on the skull being available. Nata’s Trade Hub access is described as a High Rank feature.
Make sure you need the base skull
Kranodath Skull and Kranodath Skull+ are rank-specific materials, not interchangeable names for the same item. The base skull comes from Low Rank Kranodath; High Rank carving gives the plus version. If your equipment asks for the base skull, stay in Low Rank rather than continuing to carve High Rank monsters.

The material is used to craft Kranodath Mail and several charms: Impact Charm I, Fitness Charm I, Bombardier Charm I, Fire Charm II, and Stun Charm II.
