La Quimera did not arrive on Steam on its scheduled April 25, 2025 date. Reburn first cited unforeseen challenges as an independent studio releasing its debut game, alongside circumstances in Ukraine; technical issues with getting the game live on Steam also remained. The developer then changed the initial release to Early Access, and the game launched on May 7, 2025.
Why was La Quimera delayed?
On April 26, 2025, Reburn CEO and co-founder Dmytro Lymar apologized for the missed launch, saying the studio faced unexpected challenges as an independent developer releasing its first game and was also dealing with circumstances in Ukraine. What was included in the Early Access launch?
Steam describes La Quimera as a story-driven first-person shooter in a dystopian future Latin America, where microstates depend on mercenary forces. It can be played solo or cooperatively with up to two friends. Steam store listing.
Reburn described the Early Access release as a substantial playable first part of a larger experience. The studio said it planned to add more missions, features, story developments and quality-of-life updates. Those were plans stated at launch, not confirmation that every planned addition has since shipped.
