Revolving Games announced a $13.2 million seed round on September 9, 2022, with former Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser among the investors. Houser joined the company’s advisory board; the announcement did not identify him as a Revolving Games employee or game developer. The company called its latest round $25 million, while The Block reported $12 million in pre-seed funding plus $13.2 million in seed funding, or $25.2 million combined.
How much did Revolving Games raise?
On September 9, 2022, Revolving Games announced more than $13.2 million in seed funding. Its release described that as the latest round and said it brought the company’s funding total to $25 million. The Block separately reported $12 million in pre-seed funding and $13.2 million in seed funding, totaling $25.2 million. The figures refer to different scopes: the seed round alone versus the two rounds combined. The company’s aggregate is rounded; neither figure is presented here as an audited financial statement.
The Block’s account of the two rounds is available in its September 2022 report; the company’s announcement is here.
Who invested, and what was Dan Houser’s role?
Revolving Games’ September 2022 release listed Pantera Capital, Animoca Brands, Polygon, Dan Houser, Dapper Labs, Permanens Capital Partners, Kenetic, Sarmayacar and DWeb3 Capital as participants in the round. It described Houser, a former Rockstar Games co-founder, as an investor who joined Revolving Games’ advisory board.

That announcement establishes an advisory role, not an operational position at the studio: it does not say Houser was a Revolving Games employee, executive, co-founder or credited developer. It also contains no direct statement from Houser about the investment. Comments in the release from Animoca Brands’ Yat Siu, Revolving Games co-CEO Saad Zaeem and Polygon’s Urvit Goel are their own remarks, not Houser’s.
What did the seed funding support?
The company said the money would support Web3 games and technology over the following two years, including original intellectual property and projects based on globally recognized franchises. In the same 2022 announcement, Revolving Games said it had invested more than $12 million over the preceding two and a half years in publishing tools and technology, and had more than 100 team members across two studios. These are company-reported figures from 2022, not independently audited totals.
