First identify where the failure happens: Larix will not open, cannot connect to YouTube, stops when the screen locks, or stays live while dropping frames. Those problems have different likely causes. Check the YouTube destination and stream key before changing phone settings; if the stream stops in the background, inspect whether Larix was closed or restricted; if frames drop, check network stability and stream demands. There is no verified one-size-fits-all Redmi or Xiaomi battery-setting fix for Larix Broadcaster, and the exact model and MIUI or HyperOS build matter.
Start with the symptom, not a guessed Xiaomi setting
Note exactly what happens and when. If possible, record the phone model, Android version, MIUI or HyperOS version, Larix version, YouTube account, and whether the issue changes between Wi-Fi and mobile data. This helps distinguish an app problem from a YouTube setup issue, background restriction, or weak upload connection.
- Larix crashes or will not open: this is a launch problem, not a stream-key or bitrate problem.
- Larix opens but will not connect: check YouTube setup, server URL, and stream key.
- The stream stops after locking the screen or switching apps: check whether Larix was explicitly closed or background activity was restricted.
- The stream stays connected but looks choppy or loses frames: investigate upload stability and encoder demands.
Larix Broadcaster for Android lists YouTube Live and RTMP/RTMPS among its supported destinations and protocols. YouTube also lists Larix as an encoder option. Larix Broadcaster on Google Play · YouTube’s encoder setup guide.
Larix won’t connect to YouTube: check the stream setup
- Confirm the intended YouTube account and live stream. Make sure you are preparing the stream on the channel you mean to broadcast from.
- Copy the server URL and stream key from YouTube’s encoder setup. Enter the matching values in Larix’s destination settings. A typo, stale key, or values from a different stream can prevent the encoder from reaching the intended broadcast. YouTube’s guide explains how to provide the server URL and stream key to an encoder: Set up your encoder for live streaming.
- Check YouTube’s account eligibility if the workflow is mobile live streaming. YouTube’s published mobile-live requirements include at least 50 subscribers, a verified channel, no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, live streaming enabled, and Android 8.0 or later. Enabling a first live stream may take up to 24 hours. These are requirements for YouTube’s mobile-live flow; an encoder workflow can differ, so check the path you are actually using and the account’s status in YouTube Help. YouTube mobile live-streaming requirements.
Do not confuse those mobile-live eligibility rules with Larix’s minimum Android requirement. Google’s separate developer documentation concerns apps that launch YouTube’s Mobile Live flow: it describes Android Marshmallow/API 23 or later, a camera capable of 720p/30, a microphone, specified hardware audio/video encoders, and YouTube app version 13.02 or later. That is not a statement of Larix Broadcaster’s minimum Android version. YouTube Mobile Live developer requirements.

Larix stops when the screen locks or the app goes to the background
Softvelum’s Larix FAQ says Android background streaming is available by default and that the app works in the background until it is explicitly closed. This describes Larix’s expected behavior, not a guarantee that every Xiaomi device build will preserve a stream under every condition. Larix FAQ.
- Before another test, start the stream and switch away from Larix without swiping it away. See whether the broadcast continues.
- Check whether you or a phone utility explicitly closed Larix. This can include swiping it out of the recent-apps view, running a cleaner, or using a task-management tool.
- Review your device’s battery and background-activity controls for Larix. If the phone restricts the app, test whether allowing background activity changes the result.
- If the stream still stops, note the exact device model and software build and consult instructions specific to that version or contact Larix support. Do not assume a menu path or setting name applies to every Redmi, Xiaomi, MIUI, or HyperOS release.
A support response about Larix Screencaster has recommended setting Xiaomi Battery saver to “No restrictions,” but it does not establish that the same path or effect applies to Larix Broadcaster across current MIUI and HyperOS devices. Treat it as unverified for your Broadcaster setup rather than a universal fix.

YouTube stream keeps dropping frames: check the connection and bitrate
A connected stream can still lose frames if upload conditions worsen. Larix’s FAQ notes frame loss can occur with RTMP and RTSP as network conditions degrade. It describes SRT error recovery within the configured latency period and says adaptive bitrate is available for unreliable networks; availability of app features can depend on the current edition. Larix FAQ · Larix Broadcaster listing.
- Test from a location with a steadier upload connection. If practical, compare Wi-Fi and mobile data rather than assuming either is always better.
- Reduce the stream’s demands if the connection cannot sustain them; then check whether frame loss improves.
- If your Larix edition provides adaptive bitrate, consider enabling it for an unreliable connection and observe whether the stream remains more stable.
- Change one factor at a time and watch the stream in YouTube. This helps determine whether the improvement came from the network, encoder settings, or both.
If Larix crashes or will not open
A crash occurs before YouTube can receive a stream, so server URL and bitrate checks will not diagnose it. Record the model, Android and MIUI or HyperOS versions, and Larix version; note whether the failure began after an app or system update and whether it happens immediately or only after a particular action. Check the current app listing for available updates, then consult Larix support with those details if the problem persists. The available sources do not establish a specific Redmi/Xiaomi crash fix or a universal settings path.

Keep the diagnosis useful if the first fix fails
Use this short record for each test: the failure stage, whether the screen was locked or Larix was backgrounded, connection type, whether another network changed the result, and the exact phone and software build. Avoid changing battery settings, stream configuration, and network at the same time; otherwise, you will not know which change mattered.
