Player posts from around 2023 reported that Riot support was aware of a League of Legends Gifting Center issue and had no estimated fix time. That is a historical, secondhand report—not confirmation that the bug is still happening or that Riot’s current position is unchanged. Riot’s official gifting guide, updated September 18, 2025, does not address that specific recipient-list problem. If a friend is missing now, check Riot’s published eligibility rules and regional availability before assuming the old bug is the cause.
What the reported bug was—and what is known about its status
Search-result excerpts from player posts around 2023 include complaints such as “Cant gift friends” and “Why arent my friends showing up on my gift recipient list?” The excerpts also report a support response saying Riot knew about the issue but could not provide an estimated fix time. The original threads could not be verified, so this is not an independently confirmed Riot statement or a current status update.
Riot’s Gifting Guide and FAQ, updated September 18, 2025, explains current gifting rules but does not mention that recipient-list bug. It advises players who cannot send a gift to check the in-client ticker for regional availability. That guidance helps diagnose present-day gifting problems, but it does not establish whether the reported bug has been fixed.
Check whether the sender and recipient are eligible
Riot’s guide lists account and gift-type requirements that can prevent gifting or make the option unavailable. The general friendship requirement is seven days; it is 14 days in Turkey and Brazil. Both accounts must be on the same shard, and neither player can be banned or suspended.

These limits are from Riot’s 2025 guide. Region-specific rules and availability can change, so check the live guide and the in-client ticker for the rules that apply to your account.
Try either official gifting route
- From the Store: Open the Store and use its gift-box control to start a gift.
- From the Social Panel: Right-click the friend and select “Give Gift.”
Riot lists champions, skins, ward skins, RP, summoner icons, rune pages, Hextech keys, Hextech chests, and certain gifting-specific event loot as giftable content. If “Give Gift” is grayed out, Riot says one of the accounts may not meet the listed requirements. If the recipient is absent from the list despite meeting them, the old reports alone cannot establish that the same bug is responsible.

If gifting is unavailable in your region
Check the in-client ticker to see whether gifting is active in your region. Riot’s guide says a prepaid RP card cannot be used in the Gifting Center. For RP only, the sender can share the card PIN for the recipient to redeem through the game client; this does not restore Gifting Center functionality and is not a way to gift a specific skin or champion. Riot’s Riot Codes FAQ, dated May 19, 2026, distinguishes prepaid gift cards from Riot codes and says Riot does not support codes obtained outside Riot or official partner promotions.

If the rules appear to be satisfied and the friend still does not appear, consult Riot’s current support information or submit a support ticket with the relevant account and region details. Riot also directs players to submit a ticket about unauthorized gifts after an account compromise. Gifts cannot be reversed, according to the gifting guide.
