1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsIf your League of Legends account suddenly shows every champion unlocked and many skins available, the cause is not clear from the experience alone. A Reddit post from November 10, 2024 describes that happening, but does not establish why. Riot does document a separate, temporary way to access all champions: an active Xbox Game Pass membership linked to a Riot account.
What does “League Unlocked” mean?
In a November 10, 2024 Reddit thread titled “Suddenly got League unlocked”, a player said unexpected access had appeared on their account. They said they were not affiliated with esports, a school team, or a relevant company. In comments, they reported that many ordinary skins were usable but some rare or event skins were not, and said they had contacted Riot Support.
The thread is an account of one player’s experience, not Riot’s confirmation of an entitlement or its cause. Other commenters described access disappearing after a day or two, a visual-only display, and other inconsistent behavior. Those reports do not prove that every player seeing “League Unlocked” has the same access or that Riot deliberately granted it.
Could Xbox Game Pass explain all champions being unlocked?
Riot’s current Game Pass benefits page documents access to all 160+ League of Legends champions, day-one access to new champions, and a 20% XP boost for players with a Riot account and an active Xbox Game Pass membership linked to it. Riot says activation can take up to 24 hours.

This is a documented explanation for seeing all champions available, but it does not establish that the Reddit poster had Game Pass. Nor does Riot’s cited benefits page establish that Game Pass caused the skin access described in the post. The Game Pass benefit and the Reddit reports are not equivalent evidence: one is an official description of a conditional benefit; the other is an unexplained individual experience.
Access is not the same as permanent ownership
Riot says Game Pass champions are unlocked in the Champion Collection while the benefit is active. That temporary access does not mean the account permanently owns those champions. Riot also says a player must own a champion to purchase that champion’s skins.

Game Pass access depends on the membership remaining active and the Xbox profile staying linked to the Riot account. Riot says the benefits are lost if the membership expires or the Xbox profile is unlinked.
What to check if access appeared on your account
- Check the account link: See whether an Xbox profile is linked to your Riot account.
- Check membership status: Confirm that the linked Xbox profile has an active Game Pass membership.
- Allow time for activation: Riot says Game Pass benefits may take up to 24 hours to process. If eligible benefits still have not appeared after that, Riot directs players to Player Support.
- Contact Riot Support if the access remains unexplained: If your account does not match the documented Game Pass conditions, ask Riot to clarify the entitlement rather than assuming it is permanent, a bug, or a particular kind of grant.
What the 2024 Reddit post does—and does not—establish
The post records that one player reported unexpected champion and skin access and sought help. It does not identify a confirmed cause: Game Pass, a temporary grant, a bug, or a display issue cannot be determined from the thread. Riot’s June 13, 2022 Game Pass announcement provides historical context for the partnership; Riot’s current benefits page is the more useful source for present eligibility and conditions.
