A lime-green-and-black Battlefield 6 skin leaked in September 2025 prompted some players to object to what they saw as a move away from the series’ grounded military style. It was not the same outfit as Wicked Grin, a separate bright-blue camouflage skin that became controversial the following month and was later reported removed and recolored.
Why the September 2025 leak drew criticism
GameSpot reported on September 15, 2025, that the leaked design combined lime green with black. Some players urged others to push back, arguing that increasingly conspicuous cosmetics could make Battlefield feel less like a grounded military shooter and more like games they associate with “Fortnitification.” GameSpot’s report describes objections from some players, not a poll or evidence that most of the audience agreed.
No official response to that initial leak is established in the available reporting. Nor does the coverage establish that the September outfit was later released or that it was the same cosmetic as Wicked Grin.
Wicked Grin was a separate skin and controversy
In October 2025, players discussed Wicked Grin, a bright-blue camouflage variant of a default NATO assault outfit that appeared in an early Season 1 build. PC Gamer reported that a Reddit thread criticizing the outfit had 11,000 upvotes. That figure measures engagement with one thread, not the views of Battlefield players as a whole.

Reaction was not unanimous. PC Gamer reported both criticism and disagreement from commenters, including one who considered Wicked Grin more restrained than crossover cosmetics in other games. One Reddit user wrote, “I will not revive anyone wearing this kind of skin. My take,” a personal comment rather than an official rule or evidence of broad player consensus. PC Gamer’s October 22 report covered the debate.
What happened to Wicked Grin?
GameSpot reported on November 3, 2025, that Wicked Grin had been removed and re-released in more conventional military colors. This reported change concerned Wicked Grin; it does not establish what happened to the lime-green-and-black skin from September. Why players disagree about cosmetics
The case for grounded military styling
Critics in the coverage favored outfits that fit Battlefield’s military setting. Their concern was not simply that a skin looked different, but that highly visible, bright designs could change the tone of a match and the identity of the series.
The case for more expressive designs
Other commenters were less troubled by a colorful outfit, particularly when compared with crossovers or more fantastical cosmetics elsewhere. PC Gamer also noted a distinction between weapon skins and full character outfits: a character’s appearance is visible to other players in ways a weapon finish may not be. These are arguments voiced in coverage, not objective measures of which cosmetics are acceptable or a settled community consensus.

Does EA’s Battle Pass policy mean either skin is available?
No. EA’s July 10, 2026 update says selected earlier Battle Pass items may begin returning as store items or bundles in Season 4, no sooner than three months after the original Battle Pass ends. The policy excludes Battle Pass Instant Unlocks, BF Pro Instant Unlocks, and items from Ultimate and Prestige Paths. EA says timing, availability, and selection can change and are not guaranteed.
