Not quite. LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight has seven characters in its main playable roster: Batman, Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Jim Gordon, Catwoman and Talia al Ghul. The Mayhem Collection DLC adds Joker and Harley Quinn as playable characters, bringing the total to nine when that DLC is included.
Who are the seven main playable characters?
WB Games lists these seven characters for the main roster:
- Batman
- Robin
- Nightwing
- Batgirl
- Jim Gordon
- Catwoman
- Talia al Ghul
According to the WB Games FAQ, each has unique skills, progression trees, combos and gadgets. The FAQ gives examples of character-specific equipment: Batman’s Batclaw, Robin’s Cable Launcher, Gordon’s Foam Sprayer and Catwoman’s whip. It does not provide an official explanation for why the main roster has seven characters.
Do Joker and Harley Quinn count?
Yes. The Mayhem Collection DLC adds Joker and Harley Quinn as playable characters. That makes nine named playable characters when the DLC additions are counted alongside the seven-character main roster. So “only seven” describes the main roster, not the expanded count with the DLC.

Those are content counts, not additional roster slots. The FAQ also says real-money microtransactions are not required.

No. WB Games names optional LEGO DC Batman physical sets that unlock in-game content: the Batman Logo set unlocks a gold Batsuit, while three Batmobile sets provide corresponding playable vehicles and gold variants. These are separate physical tie-ins, not requirements for accessing the main roster. Details appear in the Warner Bros. Games launch announcement.
