LEGO Fortnite Brick Life is a city-based social roleplay experience that launched in Fortnite on December 12, 2024. Players can explore Brick Bay, take jobs, meet other players, and furnish a home. The GTA comparison is a useful shorthand for its city setting, but Epic’s description focuses on social activities and roleplay—not GTA-style crime systems or story missions.
What is LEGO Fortnite Brick Life?
Epic Games announced Brick Life as an “all-new social roleplay experience in the LEGO Fortnite world,” with a launch date of December 12, 2024. It is set in Brick Bay, a city built for exploring and spending time with friends and other players. Epic’s launch announcement described a capacity of up to 32 players.
Brick Life is not the same experience as LEGO Fortnite Odyssey. Epic and the LEGO Group describe Brick Life as social roleplay, while Odyssey is the survival-crafting experience. LEGO Fortnite is the broader category for LEGO play experiences within Fortnite. The LEGO Group’s December 2024 update explains the distinction.
What can you do in Brick Bay?
Explore city locations and socialize
Epic’s launch announcement names places including a beach, Town Square, and Mourndale Academy. Activities include visiting restaurants, holding house parties, going to rooftop clubs, and racing hoverboards. The announcement describes text chat, emotes, and compatible Jam Tracks as ways to interact; players can choose who they chat with in Fortnite settings.

Take a job
Players can choose and change jobs. Examples Epic listed at launch include courier, academy professor, security officer, scoundrel, sushi chef, bobarista, and fortune teller. These roles give players ways to inhabit the city rather than simply travel through it.
Buy and decorate a home
Brick Life’s home system lets players purchase a home on an available lot and decorate it using a furniture catalogue and shop. At launch, Epic said most LEGO Fortnite Odyssey decor bundles and builds were cross-compatible, but some especially large builds were not available. That is launch-era information, not a guarantee of compatibility today.

How is it different from GTA?
The comparison works for the broad idea of a populated city where players can move around and choose activities. But the official description of Brick Life emphasizes social roleplay, jobs, homes, and city exploration. It does not establish GTA-equivalent crime systems, a campaign, or story missions, so those features should not be assumed from the comparison.
How to find Brick Life in Fortnite
At launch, Epic directed players to Fortnite’s Discover menu and the LEGO Fortnite category to select Brick Life. The announcement also said the experience was available wherever Fortnite was supported except South Korea. Those are December 2024 launch details; check Fortnite’s current Discover menu and regional availability for present-day access.
