The December 2024 Storm Chasers Update renamed LEGO Fortnite to LEGO Fortnite Odyssey and introduced a Storm King storyline to its survival mode. Its progression led from the Storm Chaser Village through storm locations and Storm Dungeons to Raven, then into the Storm King’s lair. This is a retrospective guide to the update Epic announced on December 9, 2024, for launch on December 10; later Odyssey updates mean its mechanics should not be assumed to describe the live game in October 2026.
What did the Storm Chasers Update add?
Epic Games announced Storm Chasers as an Odyssey survival-mode update centered on the Storm King. Epic described the arrival this way: “In LEGO Fortnite Odyssey the Storm King has thundered onto the scene in the survival mode’s latest update: Storm Chasers!” The update also introduced component-based crafting, a Legendary Forge, new rewards, revives, vehicle-guided builds, and quality-of-life and balance changes. Those are features of the December 2024 update announcement, not a guarantee that every detail remains unchanged today.
How do you find and unlock the Storm King fight?
The announced route was a progression chain, not simply a matter of walking straight to the boss. Epic directed players to build up the Storm Chaser Village, investigate storm locations and their dungeons, and defeat Raven to open the gateway to the Storm King.
1. Advance the Storm Chaser Village
The village was the early hub for the storyline. Epic named Carl Ruckus as its leader and Dr. Borrasca as its Meteorologist. Village characters offered goals that advanced the player toward the Storm King. The Journal tracked those goals and let players pin them to the HUD, making it the practical place to check what to do next.

2. Explore storm locations and clear Storm Dungeons
Storm systems appeared at locations across the map, with a Storm Dungeon at the center of each storm. Epic described each dungeon as holding a fragment of the Storm King’s power. Completing one temporarily removed the surrounding storm. In the December 2024 announcement, Epic said conquered dungeons would return after 24 hours with new paths, hazards, and puzzles; that timing is an announced historical mechanic, not a verified 2026 schedule.
3. Defeat Raven and enter the gateway
Raven appeared after the Storm Chasers had significantly advanced their village. Defeating him broke the lock on a gateway at the center of the world’s largest storm. Passing through led to the Storm King’s lair and a multi-stage boss battle. Epic recommended bringing friends for the encounter.

4. Fight the Storm King
Epic said the Storm King would power back up after 24 hours and could be defeated again for additional rewards. This describes the timing in the December 2024 announcement; the available official material here does not establish current reset behavior.
How did crafting and the Legendary Forge work?
Storm Chasers introduced component-based crafting: players selected materials, and material quality affected the crafted weapon or tool’s attributes and rarity. Epic grouped resources into Power Tiers ranging from Common Wood to Legendary Rift, with other tiers between them. The practical implication was that the chosen components mattered to the result, rather than every craft of an item necessarily having identical quality.

Upgrading Tier 4 gear
The Legendary Forge was a buildable end-game upgrade station. Epic said players could imbue a Tier 4 weapon or tool with Rift Crystals. Using the Rifted item increased its Rift energy until it evolved and unlocked hidden stats. This is the upgrade flow as described in the original update announcement.
What rewards came from the Storm King?
Epic listed the Thunderclap Blade, Cyclone Pickaxe, and Shatterhorn Fragments among Storm King drops. The fragments could be used to craft powerful weapons and improved tools. The announcement identifies these as rewards but does not establish their current availability, drop rates, or recipes.

Could you play LEGO Fortnite Odyssey split-screen?
Yes. Epic announced optional couch co-op split-screen support for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. Its setup instructions required a second controller and a second player’s console account; guest and Quick Play console accounts were not supported in those instructions.
- Start Fortnite and enter the LEGO Fortnite lobby.
- Connect a second controller.
- Select the second player’s console account.
- Log that player into Fortnite.
Split-screen was an optional console feature; Epic’s announcement did not present a second controller as a requirement for solo play.

What changed in Odyssey after Storm Chasers?
Storm Chasers was a 2024 update, and Odyssey continued to change afterward. On October 3, 2025, Epic announced plans to merge LEGO Fortnite Expeditions into Odyssey on November 1. Epic also said Hero Weapons and Ability Equipment would arrive early to Odyssey on October 9, alongside hunger changes and a new Potions Cauldron Station. Those dated announcements do not, by themselves, confirm the live game’s features or balance in October 2026.
