These omissions matter because a remaster label describes the edition’s presentation and content at a high level; it does not define a technical specification. Switch 2 hardware capabilities, another game’s performance, or expectations based on the original releases cannot substitute for measurements of this port.
What the Switch 2 collection contains
Nintendo describes the product as LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1–4 and LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5–7 remastered for Nintendo Switch 2. The announcement attributed to Warner Bros. Games, TT Games and the LEGO Group says that all previously released downloadable-content packs are included. That establishes the advertised scope of the package, not how many pixels it renders or how consistently it maintains a frame rate.

The Switch 2 port is credited to Double Eleven and Cast Iron Games in that announcement. Their involvement confirms who handled the porting work; it does not provide a benchmark, target frame rate, or statement about improvements over the earlier Switch edition.
Release date, formats, and regional availability
Release information differs by market, so a listing in one country should not be generalized to every region.

The reviewed evidence confirms a packaged release in Japan, but it does not establish a physical US edition or a physical SKU in other territories. Buyers outside Japan should check their own regional store rather than assuming that the Japanese package schedule applies locally.

Nintendo of America lists 13.7 GB as the estimated game file size. It is explicitly an estimate attached to a preorder listing, and Nintendo cautions that the download-size information may change before release. Leave additional free space for system overhead, patches, or a revised final file rather than treating 13.7 GB as a guaranteed installation requirement.
The number is a storage estimate, not a performance indicator. A larger or smaller install cannot tell you whether the game uses a higher resolution, reaches 60 fps, or loads areas more quickly.

Play modes and local multiplayer requirements
The Nintendo listings specify TV, tabletop and handheld play. They also list one-system play for one to two people. The UK page says multiplayer requires one compatible controller per player and warns that additional controllers may be needed. That is a local-play requirement; the listings do not establish online co-op.
- One player: the listed single-system range includes solo play.
- Two players: plan on one compatible controller for each participant; buy or use another controller only if your existing setup does not provide two.
- Display choices: TV, tabletop and handheld modes are listed, but no mode-specific resolution or frame-rate targets are published.
Why “remastered” does not answer the technical questions
Remastering can involve updated textures, lighting, effects, interface elements, or other presentation changes, but the official wording does not itemize which rendering systems were changed for Switch 2. It also does not promise a particular output resolution or refresh rate. The safest interpretation is therefore limited: this is the remastered Switch 2 edition of both games with the previously released DLC packs included.

- That the game is locked to 60 frames per second.
- That handheld mode renders at a specific pixel count.
- That docked mode outputs 1080p, 1440p, or 4K.
- That loading is faster than on the previous Switch release.
- That frame pacing is stable in every level or during two-player play.
What a proper Switch-versus-Switch 2 test must measure
No comparison result is established by the available announcements. If you are deciding whether to purchase the new edition for technical reasons, these are the measurements that would turn the open questions into evidence.

A credible comparison should identify the game version, console mode, patch level, display mode and test scene. One unusually short load or a single frame-rate reading is not enough to establish a system-wide improvement.

What remains unknown before relying on reviews or videos
The official material does not state whether the game offers graphics options, a performance toggle, dynamic resolution, motion-blur controls, or separate docked and handheld settings. It also does not say whether any technical changes apply uniformly to both years collections or to DLC stages. Those are questions for a release build, patch notes, or controlled testing.
Likewise, the announcements do not provide a Switch 2-specific comparison with the earlier Switch edition. A video showing a sharper image may reflect capture equipment, display scaling or a different scene rather than a published native-resolution specification. Treat visual impressions as observations unless the tester explains the method and measurements.
How the release details affect a buying decision
There are three separate decisions here: whether the content is desirable, whether the format is available in your market, and whether the technical upgrade is sufficient. The first is supported by the announcement: both years collections and all previously released DLC packs are included. The second depends on region. Nintendo’s US page identifies a digital product, while Sega’s September 2, 2026 announcement specifically confirms a Japanese package for October 29. The third cannot be answered from the listings because no performance figures are supplied.
That separation prevents a common mistake: treating a confirmed release date or a larger remastered package as proof of a faster or sharper game. A buyer can reasonably choose the collection for its content without claiming that it has a particular frame rate. Conversely, someone upgrading primarily for display quality or loading should wait for controlled testing.
Storage and accessories are practical parts of the decision too. The US estimate is 13.7 GB, but Nintendo says preorder information can change, so leave spare capacity. For two-player local play, the UK listing requires one compatible controller per player and notes that additional controllers may be needed. It does not identify one mandatory controller model, so check the controllers already paired with your system before purchasing another.

Should you buy before performance testing?
Buy now if the content is your priority
The package combines both Harry Potter games and includes the previously released DLC packs. If you mainly want the complete collection on Switch 2, the announced content is clear even though the rendering specifications are not.
Wait if a technical upgrade is the reason you are buying
If your decision depends on 60 fps, a particular resolution, or materially shorter loads, the official information does not yet validate that upgrade. Wait for measurements from the released build or for a detailed technical statement before paying specifically for those benefits.
Check the format in your region
The US listing reviewed is digital, while the packaged date cited by Sega is specific to Japan. Confirm the store page for your country before assuming that a physical edition, price, or release date is available to you.

- “Up to 60 fps” describes a ceiling, not necessarily a locked frame rate. Look for frame-time testing.
- “4K” may refer to output or reconstruction rather than native internal rendering. A test should distinguish those terms.
- “Faster loading” needs a defined baseline, scene, patch and storage setup.
- “Enhanced graphics” is descriptive unless the publisher specifies the resolution, assets, effects or performance target.
Until such information appears, the responsible technical verdict is limited to what the listings actually establish: a remastered two-game collection for Switch 2, with DLC included, while frame rate, resolution and loading behavior remain undisclosed in the reviewed official sources.
