What is LEGO Horizon Adventures?
Developed by Guerrilla and Studio Gobo with LEGO involvement, LEGO Horizon Adventures retells events and characters from Horizon Zero Dawn as a family-oriented action-adventure spin-off. It keeps the recognizable setting and machine-filled battles but leans into LEGO humor and slapstick rather than the original game’s serious tone.
The game launched on November 14, 2024, for PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch. The publisher announced Standard Editions in both digital and physical formats, though physical availability varies by region; its announcement’s physical-edition offer excluded North America and Canada. Check local retailers for current stock before choosing a disc or cartridge. Guerrilla’s launch announcement also describes Digital Deluxe cosmetic extras: roller-coaster customization and outfits themed after Horizon, Ratchet & Clank, and Sackboy—not extra campaign content.
How does it play, and what is the story like?
The game is an action-adventure built around combat encounters and linear stages. The brick-built environments and comic adaptation are central to its appeal: familiar Horizon characters and machines are reimagined with a deliberately silly touch, rather than simply presented as a smaller version of the original game’s open-world adventure.

What reviewers liked
In a European PS5 review published November 13, 2024, Stephen Tailby of Push Square praised the visual commitment to the LEGO style, the playful adaptation, combat, character-specific weapons, and the progression and customization available in the hub. TIME included the game in its 2024 best-games list, highlighting its appeal to Horizon fans and adults playing with younger gamers while acknowledging its mixed critical response.
Where the campaign may disappoint
Tailby also found the stages basic and repetitive, with little meaningful platforming or exploration. Push Square scored the PS5 version 6/10; that is one reviewer’s score, not an aggregate or a claim of universal consensus. The central trade-off is clear: the presentation and combat remix Horizon effectively, but the campaign structure is much more linear and limited in exploration than the source game’s open world.

Can you play solo or in co-op?
The full game can be played solo or by two players in local couch co-op or online co-op. Co-op requires both players to use the same platform: there is no cross-play between PS5, PC, and Switch. On PS5, online co-op requires PlayStation Plus; local co-op does not. PlayStation’s FAQ covers these modes, while Steam lists single-player, online co-op, and shared/split-screen co-op.

LEGO Horizon Adventures is a natural fit for Horizon fans who want a comic retelling, families looking for a two-player adventure, and players drawn to LEGO’s visual humor and customization. It is a less convincing choice for someone seeking the scale, exploration, or serious tone of Horizon Zero Dawn. Before deciding on a platform, consider whether your co-op partner will use the same one, whether you want local or online play, and—on PC—whether your system meets Steam’s published requirements.
