Lenovo’s China-market Legion R9000P is a 16-inch gaming laptop built around AMD’s 16-core Ryzen 9 7945HX and, in the most commonly documented configuration, a 140W GeForce RTX 4060. It also offers a 2560×1600 240Hz display, 80Wh battery and 1TB SSD.
However, “2024” should be treated cautiously. Lenovo’s listings use the label for configurations of the R9000P family, but the available official evidence does not establish a separate, entirely new 2024 chassis or a definitive launch event. One official listing identifies the machine as Legion R9000P ARX8.

What is the Legion R9000P?
R9000P is Lenovo’s China-market name for an AMD-powered Legion performance laptop. Its closest international family counterpart is generally associated with the Legion Pro 5, although the names, specifications and support arrangements are not necessarily identical across regions.

Is it really a new 2024 model?
Lenovo has used “R9000P 2024” and the later “R9000P AI元启” wording in Chinese product listings. That confirms 2024-branded retail configurations, but not necessarily a new chassis generation. The Ryzen 9 7945HX is from AMD’s Zen 4 mobile generation, and the ARX8 designation links the laptop to the previous Legion Pro 5-class platform family.
The safest description is therefore: a China-market Legion R9000P configuration sold with a 2024 model-year or listing label. Its exact original launch date remains unclear from the available primary Lenovo pages. Current availability is also SKU- and inventory-dependent; some Lenovo pages show sold-out or unavailable states.

Ryzen 9 7945HX: powerful, but demanding
The Ryzen 9 7945HX has 16 cores, 32 threads, a listed maximum frequency of 5.4GHz and 80MB of total cache. That makes it an unusually strong laptop processor for heavily threaded work such as video encoding, code compilation, 3D rendering and simulation.
In games, the CPU is only one part of the result. The RTX GPU, memory arrangement, cooling mode and power profile all matter. The HX-class processor can also draw substantial power and produce considerable heat during sustained workloads, so its performance should not be confused with long battery life. Lenovo’s later “AI” branding should not be interpreted as evidence that this is a modern Ryzen AI processor with a dedicated current-generation NPU.

RTX 4060 graphics and the 140W question
The main documented configuration uses an RTX 4060 with 8GB of GDDR6 and a Lenovo-listed graphics power limit of up to 140W. That power rating is important: two laptops with the same RTX 4060 name can perform differently if their cooling systems and power limits differ.
The 8GB frame buffer is adequate for many games, but it can become restrictive in newer demanding titles, particularly at the panel’s native 2560×1600 resolution. Sensible settings, upscaling or frame generation may be needed. A 240Hz screen does not mean modern AAA games will run at 240 frames per second at maximum settings.

Treat that as a separate SKU, not as an automatic specification of every R9000P 2024 machine. See Lenovo’s RTX 4070 listing.
Display: sharp and fast, with realistic limits
The 16-inch 2560×1600 panel combines a sharper image with the additional vertical space of a 16:10 aspect ratio. Lenovo lists 100% DCI-P3 coverage, while one description specifies 500-nit brightness and the 2024 listing mentions HDR400.
That is a strong specification for games and creative work, but HDR400 is an entry-level HDR certification rather than a guarantee of premium HDR contrast or local dimming. The 240Hz refresh rate is most valuable in competitive games where the system can deliver very high frame rates. For graphically intensive games, the RTX 4060 is more realistically a match for a mixture of adjusted settings and image-scaling technologies.

Memory and storage configurations
R9000P listings include both 16GB and 32GB DDR5 versions. At least one 16GB configuration is specified as a single 16GB module. Buyers should prefer a matched dual-module arrangement where possible, or confirm that the laptop can be upgraded easily.

Single-module memory can reduce memory bandwidth and affect some workloads. The discrete RTX GPU is the primary gaming processor, so the impact varies by game, but 16GB as a single stick is less attractive than 16GB in two modules or a 32GB kit.
Storage is listed as a 1TB SSD, with PCIe 4.0 specified on one page. The available evidence does not confirm every drive model or the upgrade layout, so ask whether a second M.2 slot is present before buying.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Cooling, battery and portability
Lenovo describes the laptop as using Frost Blade Pro 5.0 cooling, LEGIONZONE customization software and, in one listing, Fn+Q performance-mode switching. Higher performance modes can sustain more CPU and GPU output, but they can also increase fan noise, heat and power consumption.
The 80Wh battery is substantial, but runtime will vary with brightness, refresh rate, hybrid-graphics settings, workload and power mode. With a weight above 2kg and a 300W power solution or adapter described in Lenovo’s highlights, this is closer to a desktop replacement than an ultraportable gaming notebook.

Ports and connectivity
The official product page lists Wi-Fi 6E, HDMI, a 3.5mm headset jack, four USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, two USB-C ports and wired networking. Lenovo’s available listing does not establish the exact USB-C bandwidth, DisplayPort version, power-delivery input, Ethernet speed or Thunderbolt support. Check the manual for the exact machine type rather than assuming these features.
China-market buying risks
Imported R9000P units require more checking than a locally sold Legion. Listed China SKUs use Windows 11 Home Chinese edition, and keyboard layouts, firmware language, factory software and driver availability may differ from those of international Legion models.
Before paying, confirm:
- The exact model or machine-type number.
- Ryzen 9 7945HX versus another processor.
- RTX 4060 versus RTX 4070 and the GPU’s power rating.
- RAM capacity and whether it uses one or two modules.
- Display brightness, gamut, refresh rate and HDR specification.
- SSD capacity and available M.2 slots.
- Windows language, keyboard layout and included software.
- Warranty territory and Lenovo support for that machine type.
- Driver and BIOS-update availability in your country.
- Adapter wattage, plug type and seller return or dead-on-arrival terms.
- Whether Lenovo’s global utilities recognize the regional machine.
Price and availability
Lenovo China pages observed in 2026 showed RTX 4060 configurations around ¥9,699 to ¥9,899, while a custom 32GB/1TB listing was around ¥9,848. These are China-market observations, not guaranteed current prices or delivered costs, and some pages indicate sold-out inventory. Check the official Lenovo listing and the seller’s live stock before treating any price as current.
Who should buy it?
The R9000P makes the most sense when a discounted, correctly specified unit is backed by credible warranty and return support. It is appealing to buyers who want unusually strong multithreaded CPU performance, a sharp 16:10 high-refresh display and a high-power RTX 4060.
It is a weaker choice if the price approaches that of a newer locally supported laptop. Newer models may offer better efficiency, graphics performance, AI hardware and regional support. The R9000P is also a poor fit for frequent travelers, buyers who need long unplugged runtime, or anyone expecting native 240fps in demanding games at 2560×1600.
