Lethal Company is a cooperative horror game about scavenging abandoned industrial facilities on hostile moons. Crews collect and sell scrap to meet the Company’s profit quota, while dangers, limited time, and imperfect communication turn each outing into a risk-reward decision. It is developed and published by Zeekerss and remains in Steam Early Access.
What is Lethal Company?
Lethal Company combines cooperative scavenging, procedural exploration, and horror. Players work as contractors exploring abandoned facilities on industrialized moons. They search for valuable scrap, scan creatures for a bestiary, and try to carry their finds back to the ship before the environment becomes too dangerous.
The central pressure is the Company’s profit quota: crews need to recover and sell enough salvage to satisfy it. Earnings can then go toward higher-risk destinations, equipment, suits, and ship decorations. The tension comes from weighing another trip into a facility against the possibility of losing time, loot, or a crew member.
How does a typical run work?
- Choose a destination. The crew decides where to go, balancing the potential value of a more dangerous moon against the need to meet its quota.
- Search the facility. Players explore for scrap and can scan creatures to add information to the bestiary.
- Coordinate the return. The team carries valuables back to the ship while keeping track of threats and conditions.
- Sell salvage and prepare again. Recovered scrap contributes to the Company’s quota; earnings can fund tools and other upgrades for future excursions.
Cooperation is more than sharing a map. A player aboard the ship can use the radar to guide teammates and operate the terminal to unlock doors remotely. That creates a useful split between the people navigating the facility and a lookout relaying information from a safer position.

How many people can play Lethal Company?
Steam lists single-player and online co-op, and the developer says the game supports up to four players. The ship-based radar and remotely unlocked doors give a crew ways to coordinate, but the game’s appeal depends on whether players enjoy communicating and making decisions together under pressure.
Is Lethal Company still in Early Access?
Yes. Steam identifies Lethal Company as an Early Access game. Zeekerss describes it as “finished” but still short of its potential, and says it will remain in Early Access until the developer is satisfied. Although an earlier estimate mentioned six months, that estimate is not a release date or a guarantee that the game is complete.
Rank #2
Zeekerss says player feedback helps tune difficulty and balance. The developer has described plans for more creatures, items, customization, and map variation, alongside bug fixes and design refinement. Those are stated intentions, not a guaranteed schedule or feature list.
What was added in the latest surfaced update?
The official Steam news feed lists Version 80 as out of beta on April 5. Its notes include three new forest-moon creatures and one returning creature, a utility slot for purchased tools, facility-room changes, a rework of March’s exterior, foliage updates, accessibility options, bug fixes, and performance work. The announcement says Version 85 should hopefully arrive soon but gives no date. Because update status can change, Version 80 is the latest update covered by the available official listing, not necessarily the current version.
