LG Electronics and Microsoft announced plans to bring Xbox Cloud Gaming to select internet-connected vehicles through LG’s webOS Automotive Content Platform (ACP). The announced setup is for passengers: open the Xbox app on the vehicle’s infotainment system, sign in with Game Pass Ultimate, connect a compatible Bluetooth controller and stream over an automotive data plan. The September 2025 announcements did not name supported vehicles or a launch date, so availability in any particular car or market remains unconfirmed by those sources.
How Xbox gaming in cars is supposed to work
The Xbox app is intended to run on LG’s webOS-based ACP, which automakers can use for in-vehicle content. This is a cloud-gaming integration for select vehicles—not an announcement that Xbox consoles are being installed in cars. Xbox and LG describe the experience as passenger entertainment through the vehicle’s connected infotainment system. Xbox’s announcement and LG’s announcement identify the following requirements:
- A vehicle with the supported internet-connected infotainment platform.
- A Game Pass Ultimate subscription.
- A compatible Bluetooth controller.
- Internet access, with an automotive data plan required for streaming.
Xbox says the services will comply with driving safety regulations. The announcements frame gameplay as an option for passengers; they do not establish that drivers may play while a vehicle is moving.
Which cars will support it, and when?
The official announcements reviewed here do not establish a consumer launch date, a supported vehicle list, or geographic availability. Xbox’s September 9, 2025 post said it was working with LG to integrate the experience into select internet-connected vehicles and that access would come “soon.” LG’s announcement that day likewise described the service as coming soon. In a September 23, 2025 follow-up, LG Vehicle Solution Company president Eun Seok-hyun said LG manages integration and certification work, but did not name eligible models or a customer launch date. LG’s follow-up therefore adds detail about LG’s role, not a confirmed rollout.

As a result, neither an LG infotainment system nor a particular vehicle should be assumed compatible without a newer official compatibility notice. The announcements also do not provide model-year requirements, a list of supported markets, or a way to check eligibility for a specific car.
What games are included?
The companies named examples to illustrate the planned service, not to promise a fixed or current in-car catalog. Xbox’s September 2025 announcement mentioned Gears of War: Reloaded and Forza Horizon 5, and also referenced the then-upcoming The Outer Worlds 2. It said Game Pass Ultimate subscribers could stream select games they own, giving Bugsnax, Don’t Starve and Mafia: The Old Country as examples. LG named Doom: The Dark Ages and Forza Horizon 5. These examples do not confirm what is available in the service now; check the current Xbox Cloud Gaming catalog for present-day game availability.

What the announcements do not establish
The September 2025 materials describe a planned integration, not a measured consumer experience. They do not report gaming performance, latency, data consumption, consumer pricing, minimum connection speed, offline play, or supported controller brands and models. They also do not estimate the cost of an automotive data plan. A compatible Bluetooth controller is a stated requirement, but the announcements do not endorse a particular product.
LG placed the partnership within its broader ACP plans. In its September 9, 2025 announcement, the company said it aimed to supply its webOS-based ACP to 20 million vehicles by 2030. That is LG’s company goal for the platform, not a count of vehicles already equipped with ACP or eligible for Xbox gaming. LG also cited more than 240 million smart TVs worldwide as the scale of webOS on TVs; that figure does not describe vehicle installations.
