“The program can’t start because libglog-msvc-14.dll is missing from your computer.”
You may also see “libglog-msvc-14.dll was not found,” “The specified module could not be found,” or “libglog-msvc-14.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.”

MSVCP140.dllorVCRUNTIME140.dll: repair the matching Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable package. - The file exists beside the application but will not load: suspect a missing dependency, wrong architecture, corruption, or mixed application versions.
- Several unrelated programs fail: check Windows components with DISM and SFC.
- The file is in a temporary folder, download folder, cracked application, or unexpected startup location: scan the computer rather than copying or restoring it.
Do not begin by downloading libglog-msvc-14.dll from a DLL collection site. The safe source is the original application installer, launcher, or vendor support channel.

What libglog-msvc-14.dll is
libglog-msvc-14.dll is a third-party Windows DLL based on Google’s glog C++ application logging library. The msvc-14 part refers to the Microsoft Visual C++ toolchain era used to build the library. It does not mean that this file is itself a Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable component.
This is not a Windows system file. It should normally be stored in the affected program’s own installation directory, beside its executable. It should not normally be copied into C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64.
Public package listings show this DLL bundled with older Movavi products, including Movavi Video Editor Plus 14 and Movavi Video Converter Premium. That does not prove that every error belongs to Movavi. Other proprietary applications can package a library with the same filename.
The filename alone cannot identify the exact program that installed your copy.
Fix 1: Repair or reinstall the affected application
This is the most likely solution because the DLL is normally application-local. Installing a Windows runtime will not usually recreate a missing copy inside the program’s folder.
Try the launcher’s repair or verification option
- Close the application and its launcher.
- Open the launcher from the Start menu.
- Look for Repair, Repair installation, Verify files, or Scan and repair.
- Start the repair and allow it to replace missing or damaged files.
- Restart Windows.
- Open the application again.
For a Steam installation:
- Open Steam.
- Select Library.
- Right-click the affected application and choose Properties.
- Select Installed Files.
- Choose Verify integrity of game files.
- Wait for the process to finish, then start the application.
The wording can vary by Steam version. A successful repair should restore the application’s local DLL and allow its executable to start.
Use Windows’ application repair option
- Press
Win + I. - Select Apps.
- Choose Installed apps.
- Find the affected application.
- Select the three-dot menu beside it.
- Choose Advanced options, if available.
- Select Repair.
- Test the application.
If Repair is not available or does not help, uninstall the application from the same screen. You can also open Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, select the program, and choose Uninstall.
Download a fresh installer from the application developer’s official website or reinstall through the official launcher. Reboot before testing the new installation. Do not copy the DLL from another computer or from a different release of the program.

If the installer offers a 32-bit and 64-bit choice, use the package matching the application. A 32-bit executable cannot load a 64-bit DLL, and a 64-bit executable cannot use a 32-bit replacement.
Fix 2: Check Windows Security quarantine
An antivirus action can remove an otherwise legitimate application file.
- Open Start and search for Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Choose Protection history.
- Find the detection involving
libglog-msvc-14.dll. - Expand the entry and note the detected path, detection name, and action taken.
Do not restore the file solely because the application reports it as missing. Confirm that it came from the official application installation and that the installation is digitally signed or otherwise trusted. If there is any doubt, reinstall the application from its official source instead.
If the antivirus repeatedly removes the file after a clean official installation, contact the antivirus vendor and the application developer. Do not permanently disable antivirus protection just to make the program launch.
Fix 3: Repair Visual C++ only when related runtime files are missing
The name msvc-14 can be misleading. Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable does not normally restore libglog-msvc-14.dll itself.
Repair the runtime when the error also names files such as:
MSVCP140.dllVCRUNTIME140.dll- Another Microsoft Visual C++ runtime component
Use Microsoft’s current supported packages:
On 64-bit Windows, a 32-bit application still requires the x86 package. Install or repair x64 for 64-bit applications and x86 for 32-bit applications.

- Press
Win + I. - Select Apps > Installed apps.
- Search for Microsoft Visual C++.
- Select the matching Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable entry.
- Choose Modify.
- Select Repair.
- Restart Windows.

vc_redist.x64.exe /repair
Use the x86 installer instead for a 32-bit application. If the application’s documentation specifies a particular runtime, follow that requirement. After repairing the runtime, reinstall or verify the application if libglog-msvc-14.dll is still absent.
Fix 4: Check for a dependency or architecture mismatch
“The specified module could not be found” does not always mean that the named DLL is missing. Windows may be unable to load one of its dependencies.
Check the application directory:
- Right-click the application shortcut.
- Select Properties.
- Open the Shortcut tab.
- Select Open File Location.
- Confirm whether
libglog-msvc-14.dllis beside the application executable.
If it is present, do not replace it immediately. A wrong-architecture DLL, damaged file, or missing dependent runtime can produce the same type of failure.
Also check whether the error changed after someone copied a replacement file. “The procedure entry point could not be found” usually indicates that the DLL and executable are from different application versions. Use the launcher’s verification function or perform a clean reinstall rather than mixing files.
Fix 5: Check a failed update or damaged program folder
An interrupted update can leave a newer executable with older libraries, or older program files with a newer DLL.
- Close the application.
- Restart Windows.
- Run the launcher’s Verify, Repair, or Update function.
- If the error remains, uninstall the application.
- Restart Windows again.
- Install the latest version from the official source.
- Launch the program before restoring optional plugins or modifications.
Avoid deleting random DLLs from the application directory. If the program uses plugins, overlays, mods, or injected utilities, temporarily remove those according to the application vendor’s instructions before testing.
Fix 6: Repair Windows components when multiple apps fail
DISM and SFC are later-stage repairs. They are not the normal solution for one application’s missing, local glog library.

- Select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Wait for it to finish. Then run:
sfc /scannow
Restart Windows and test the application. Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC.

Repeating these commands without checking what changed can make troubleshooting difficult. Outbyte PC Repair can provide a scan showing what Windows repair issues it identifies; its full version performs the repair, but reinstalling the application remains the definitive fix when that program owns the missing DLL.
If DISM reports that it cannot complete the operation, record the exact message and investigate broader Windows servicing, storage, or system-image problems. Do not copy a DLL into a system folder as a substitute.
Fix 7: Update drivers only when the failure began after a hardware or driver change
Drivers are not the usual cause of an application-local glog DLL error. Consider this step if the failure began after a graphics, audio, storage, or chipset driver update and other applications are also unstable.

- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand the relevant category, such as Display adapters or Sound, video and game controllers.
- Right-click the device.
- Select Properties.
- Open the Driver tab and review the provider, date, and version.
- Use Update Driver or obtain the correct driver from the hardware manufacturer.
Do not use Roll Back Driver unless the option is available and the problem clearly began after that driver change. You can also inspect Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Optional updates > Driver updates, but install only drivers appropriate for the hardware.
Fix 8: Use System Restore after a recent system change
If the error began immediately after an update, driver installation, or other system change, System Restore may return Windows to an earlier state.
- Press
Win + R. - Type:
rstrui.exe
- Press Enter.
- Select a restore point created before the problem began.
- Review the affected applications and drivers.
- Start the restore.
System Restore normally leaves personal files alone, but it can remove applications, drivers, and system changes installed after the selected restore point.
Why regsvr32 usually does not help
regsvr32 is for DLLs that expose registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer. A logging or runtime library normally does not need COM registration.
Do not treat this as a standard repair:
regsvr32 libglog-msvc-14.dll
It can produce an error and does not restore missing dependencies, repair a damaged application, or correct a 32-bit and 64-bit mismatch. Use it only when the software vendor specifically documents registration for that DLL.
Do not download a replacement DLL
Random DLL downloads can contain malware, the wrong architecture, a mismatched build, or a modified file. Even a genuine-looking copy may belong to another application version and leave the original problem unresolved.

Never copy the file into System32 or SysWOW64 to suppress the message. Keep application DLLs in the folder supplied by the application installer. The safe sources are the developer’s official installer, the official launcher, Microsoft’s own runtime packages, and the application vendor’s support team.

If reinstalling still fails
Record the following before contacting the application vendor:
- The complete error text
- The application name and version
- The executable path
- Whether the application is 32-bit or 64-bit
- The path where
libglog-msvc-14.dllwas found or expected - Any antivirus detection and quarantine action
- Whether the problem began after an update, cleanup, or driver change
- Any additional missing dependency named in the error
If only one application fails, continue troubleshooting that application. If many unrelated applications fail, investigate Windows corruption, malware, disk errors, or a damaged runtime installation.
FAQ
Is libglog-msvc-14.dll part of Windows?
No. It is a third-party application DLL and should normally remain in the folder of the program that supplied it.
Is it an official Microsoft Visual C++ file?
No. The msvc-14 label describes the build toolchain. It does not make the DLL part of Microsoft’s Redistributable package.

Why does the message say the specified module was not found when the file exists?
A dependency of the DLL may be missing, or the file may be corrupted or the wrong architecture. Verify or reinstall the application instead of copying another DLL.

Do I need to register this DLL?
Normally, no. regsvr32 is not a general DLL repair tool, and a logging library usually does not expose the registration interface it requires.
