Limbus Company offers two main ways to get Identities and E.G.O.: random Extraction and direct exchange through the Dispenser using shards. On eligible time-limited banners, the exchange counter is called Ideality: the mechanics guide describes one point per extraction and an exchange at 200 points. That is a fixed exchange threshold, not an escalating chance of getting the featured item. Check the active banner’s details and the Dispenser in your game before deciding whether to pull or save.
What are Identities and E.G.O.?
They are different types of combat collectible. An Identity is an alternate possibility for one of the Sinners, while E.G.O. is equipment associated with an Abnormality. Project Moon’s official game overview presents both as ways to add alternate combat possibilities to a Sinner.
How do you get them?
Extraction
Extraction is the random-acquisition route. The general permanent banner is described as Standard Extraction; Target Extraction is time-limited and features named content. The active banner determines what can drop and what resources are accepted. Check its in-game Detailed Rates screen for the exact pool and probabilities rather than relying on a generic or outdated rate table. Project Moon’s Steam announcements show that featured content changes over time, but the live banner in your game is the authority on what is available now.
Shard exchange
Use the in-game Dispenser to exchange eligible character shards for an Identity or E.G.O. The eligible inventory changes with season and events, so a specific item is not necessarily shardable whenever you want it. Check the current Dispenser before saving toward a named item. The Season 8 guide notice says Season 8: PUNCTUM begins September 17, 2026 (KST) and discusses Season 7 universal shards for Uptie and Threadspinning; it does not make every item permanently exchangeable.

How Ideality works on eligible banners
The mechanics guide describes Ideality as a counter on eligible time-limited banners: each extraction adds one point, and 200 points can be exchanged for eligible featured content. Confirm that the banner you are considering offers Ideality and that your desired item is among its exchange targets; the rule does not apply universally to every banner or item.
Ideality is a set exchange threshold, not evidence that each pull raises the odds of a featured result or that a rarity is guaranteed earlier. When the banner ends, unused Ideality converts to Thread in an equal amount, according to the mechanics guide. Treat that as the guide’s general description and check the active banner’s in-game rules for its exact terms.
Should you pull or save shards?
Compare the available routes for the specific item you want. A useful decision check is:
Recommended Free Tools
- Featured status: Is the item actually in the active Extraction pool, and is it featured?
- Ideality exchange: Is it an eligible exchange target, and how many extractions would remain to reach 200 points?
- Shard eligibility: Can you exchange shards for it in the current Dispenser?
- Currency: Will the pull spend Free Lunacy, Paid Lunacy, or both?
If the item is shardable now, saving shards provides a direct route without relying on a random result. If it is featured and eligible for the banner’s Ideality exchange, calculate how far you are from the 200-point threshold before spending. If neither condition applies, inspect the pool and rates before deciding; the general existence of a banner is not a guarantee that it offers a route to your specific target.
What happens to Lunacy when you extract?
The Limbus Company FAQ says Extraction spends Free Lunacy first and then Paid Lunacy if Free Lunacy is insufficient. Review the resource split shown in the confirmation pop-up before committing. The FAQ also says completed random Extraction rewards cannot be refunded or rolled back, so treat a confirmed pull as final.

Where to check rates and current eligibility
For a banner-specific decision, open the banner’s in-game Detailed Rates screen and review its pool, probabilities, and any Ideality exchange terms. The mechanics guide is community-maintained and cautions that its displayed pool quantities may not be exact; Project Moon’s official Walpurgis Night notice likewise directs players to Detailed Rates for exact extraction rates. Use the game screen for the current banner, and the Dispenser for current shard eligibility. The available sources do not establish a single active-banner rate table that applies across banners.
