Little Nightmares III is not included in the Xbox Game Pass catalog. You must buy the game to play the full version, although a qualifying Game Pass subscription can stream that purchased copy through Xbox Cloud Gaming. The Xbox Store lists the game as “Cloud playable with Xbox Game Pass Essential, Premium or Ultimate. Game purchase required.”
Is Little Nightmares III included with Game Pass?
No. As of August 8, 2026, Little Nightmares III is not part of the Game Pass game catalog. The Xbox Store’s cloud-gaming label does not mean the game is included with a subscription: it specifically says that a game purchase is required.

When did Little Nightmares III release on Xbox?
Little Nightmares III launched on Xbox on October 10, 2025. The Xbox version is available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Xbox Cloud Gaming. The store also lists Smart Delivery and Xbox Play Anywhere. These features relate to ownership and delivery across supported Xbox devices; they do not mean the game is included with Game Pass or that every platform supports cross-platform co-op.

How much does Little Nightmares III cost?

The “+” shown by the Xbox Store means the final price can vary by region, tax, platform or storefront conditions. Temporary Xbox sales may also reduce the price, but discounts should not be treated as the permanent list price.
Expansion content prices
The standalone Secrets of the Spiral Expansion Pass is listed at $14.99. Its first additional chapter, The Backstage, launched on June 12, 2026, and is listed separately at $7.99. The chapter is included in the Deluxe Edition’s Expansion Pass.

What is the free Friend’s Pass?
The free download is officially titled Little Nightmares III – Free Trial & Friend’s Pass. It is not the complete game and should not be confused with Game Pass.
- Both players can download it and play the opening section for free, solo or together online.
- For the full campaign, one player must own the complete game.
- The second player can join through the free Friend’s Pass without buying the full game.
- Both players must use the same platform ecosystem.
- Progress from the trial carries over if the trial player later buys the full game.
With one purchased copy, two people can play the complete campaign together online on the same platform. The free Xbox Store item is therefore useful for trying the opening and for joining an owner’s co-op session, but it is not a free Game Pass replacement.

Does Little Nightmares III have co-op?
Yes. The full campaign supports two-player online co-op. The Xbox Store lists the capability as “Online co-op (2-2)” alongside single-player. There is no advertised local, split-screen or couch co-op mode.
The playable characters are:
- Low, who uses a bow.
- Alone, who uses a wrench.
In solo play, the second character is controlled by an AI companion. In co-op, each player controls one character.

Is crossplay supported?
No. Cross-platform play is not supported. Xbox players must play with Xbox players, PlayStation players with PlayStation players, and PC players with PC players. The developer’s game-specific FAQ gives the platform restriction.

Smart Delivery and Xbox Play Anywhere do not change these multiplayer restrictions. They describe how the game is delivered or shared across supported Xbox devices, while cross-platform multiplayer is a separate feature.

A co-op save cannot be converted into a solo save, and a solo save cannot be converted into a co-op save. A co-op run must continue with the same two players.
If you want to play with a different friend, start another save. You can also maintain a separate solo run. The developer’s FAQ says the game supports up to eight saves.

Have the co-op problems been fixed?
Little Nightmares III received several multiplayer updates after launch:
- October 23, 2025: improved host-and-client synchronization on Xbox.
- November 19, 2025: fixed co-op progression problems and desynchronization affecting puzzles and chase sequences.
- January 28, 2026: further improved synchronization and resolved additional co-op progression issues on Xbox.
These updates mean launch-day reports about desynchronization or blocked progression may no longer describe the patched version. However, the official notes do not claim that every possible multiplayer problem has been eliminated. The relevant official patch information is the best reference for the fixes covered.
