His main threat is rapid Frostbite buildup: GameSpot says the status effect halves your maximum stamina for several seconds, making it harder to dodge and extend attacks. Keep your punish windows short, preserve stamina for an escape, and be ready to fight without reliable lock-on when the blizzard obscures targeting.
Where is Liu Cheng’en?
Liu Cheng’en is at Snowpeak Pass in the Cloudspire region. GameSpot places the encounter after Ai Nengqi, when the drawbridge to the fortress is lowered. PowerPyx also reports another way to open the bridge: light the three signal fires on the tower roofs. Treat that as an alternate route, not the only way forward.

Manage Frostbite and stamina
GameSpot warns that almost all of Liu Cheng’en’s attacks build Frostbite quickly. Once inflicted, Frostbite halves maximum stamina for several seconds. That leaves less room to dodge and makes long attack strings riskier, so avoid spending the full stamina bar on offense. If Frostbite lands, prioritize creating space and keeping enough stamina for the next dodge rather than forcing another combo.

Adjust when the blizzard disrupts lock-on
A mini-blizzard around Liu Cheng’en can interfere with lock-on targeting, according to GameSpot. If tracking becomes unreliable, watch his position and attack animations directly; reacquire the target when the effect allows rather than committing to swings at a misplaced target.
Use a short punish after the opening attacks
PowerPyx suggests dodging the first three attacks, then using a charged heavy attack followed by quick attacks until stamina is nearly spent. This is a guide-reported punish pattern, not a guarantee that every sequence has identical timing. End the follow-up before your stamina runs out so you can still evade his next move—especially important if Frostbite has reduced your maximum stamina.
