If Windows says lmmsgtrans.dll is missing, was not found, or could not be loaded, repair or reinstall the affected LogoManager installation rather than copying a DLL into a Windows system folder.
LogoManager was legacy software from Mike Bradley for managing older Nokia phones through a data cable or infrared connection. It included phonebook, logo, ringtone, and graphics tools. The file is associated with the LMMsgTrans Module and is described as the LogoManager Communications Transport Layer.

Quick identification
| Item | What the available evidence indicates |
|---|---|
| File | lmmsgtrans.dll |
| Description | LogoManager Communications Transport Layer |
| Product | LMMsgTrans Module |
| Developer | Mike Bradley |
| File type | Third-party application DLL |
| Architecture | Reported by file databases as Win32 or x86 |
| Reported metadata | Some databases list version 1.2.1040.0 and a size of approximately 72 KB |
| Normal owner | LogoManager or an old component shipped with it |
| Windows component | No |
| Normal location | LogoManager’s own installation directory |
The version and size are reported database metadata, not a current vendor-maintained technical specification. Do not use those values alone to decide whether a replacement file is genuine.
What the error means
You may see messages such as:
- “This application failed to start because lmmsgtrans.dll was not found.”
- “The file lmmsgtrans.dll is missing or corrupted.”
- “A required component is missing: lmmsgtrans.dll. Please install the application again.”
- “Error loading lmmsgtrans.dll. The specified module could not be found.”
- “The program can’t start because lmmsgtrans.dll is missing from your computer.”
- “Failed to load lmmsgtrans.dll.”
- “Cannot find lmmsgtrans.dll.”
- “Cannot register lmmsgtrans.dll.”
These messages usually mean that an old application cannot find its own file or one of the file’s dependencies. “The specified module could not be found” can also mean that lmmsgtrans.dll exists but another DLL required by it is missing.

There is no verified evidence that a current Windows program, modern game, Windows Update, DirectX, .NET, or Microsoft Visual C++ installs this file. The affected executable should normally be LogoManager or an old component that shipped with it.
Fix 1: Identify the program and its installation folder
Start by confirming which application is producing the message. This prevents you from repairing the wrong program or replacing a file that Windows never needed.
Check the error window
- Read the title bar and the full message.
- Note the name of the executable, if Windows displays it.
- Close the message.
- Reopen the program that triggered it.
- Confirm whether the program is LogoManager or an old Nokia-phone utility.
If the dialog appears during startup, shutdown, login, or from an unfamiliar executable, do not assume that the file belongs to a genuine LogoManager installation. Investigate the executable’s location first.
Search installed applications
On Windows 11:
- Right-click Start.
- Select Installed apps.
- Search for LogoManager.
- Select the three-dot menu beside it.
- Choose Uninstall only if you are ready to reinstall or remove the program.
On Windows 10:
- Right-click Start.
- Select Apps and Features.
- Search for LogoManager.
- Select the entry and choose Uninstall.
You can also search File Explorer:
- Press Windows key + E.
- Select This PC.
- In the search box, enter
lmmsgtrans.dll. - Wait for the search to finish.
- Inspect the containing folder.
A genuine copy should normally be beside the LogoManager executable or within its application folders. It should not automatically be placed in C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64.
If the search finds only a copy in a temporary folder, a download folder, or an unfamiliar program directory, treat it as untrusted until it has been checked.
Fix 2: Repair or reinstall LogoManager
Reinstalling the complete parent application is the safest and most likely fix. It restores the DLL together with the other files and dependencies that LogoManager expects.
The surviving official LogoManager download page is the preferred source for the original software. Because LogoManager is legacy software, current Windows 10 or Windows 11 compatibility cannot be guaranteed.

- Save any information you still need from LogoManager.
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps.
- Open Installed apps on Windows 11, or Apps and Features on Windows 10.
- Find LogoManager.
- Select the menu or application entry.
- Choose Uninstall.
- Follow the uninstall wizard.
- Restart Windows.
If LogoManager does not appear in Settings:
- Press Windows key + R.
- Enter
appwiz.cpl. - Press Enter.
- Select LogoManager in Programs and Features.
- Choose Uninstall.
If the uninstaller is broken, reinstalling over the existing installation may repair it. If that fails, remove the program through its original uninstaller or restore it from a known-good backup. Avoid manually deleting shared folders or registry entries.
Install from the official source
- Open the official LogoManager download page in your browser.
- Download the complete installer, not an individual DLL.
- Right-click the installer.
- Select Properties.
- Check the Digital Signatures tab if one is present.
- If Windows blocks the file, use only an installer whose origin you can verify.
- Right-click the installer again.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Install LogoManager into a normal local folder.
- Restart Windows.
- Open LogoManager from its installed shortcut.
If the application starts without the DLL message, the repair worked. Test the phone connection only after the program itself opens.
If the installer refuses to run, right-click it, select Properties, open the Compatibility tab, and try a compatibility mode for an older Windows version. Do not change several settings at once. Test the installer, then test the installed application.

If reinstalling does not help, record:
- The exact executable named in the error
- The full path where
lmmsgtrans.dllwas found, if any - Your Windows version
- Whether antivirus quarantined the file
- Whether the installed application is 32-bit
- The complete error text
Fix 3: Check Windows Security quarantine
Security software may remove or quarantine an old DLL because legacy software can have unusual behavior or outdated signing information. A quarantine event does not automatically prove that the file is malware, and it does not prove that the file is safe.
Review Protection history
- Open Start.
- Search for Windows Security.
- Open it.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Expand entries related to LogoManager or
lmmsgtrans.dll. - Read the detected file path and detection name.
Restore the file only when all of the following are true:
- The file was inside the genuine LogoManager installation folder.
- You obtained LogoManager from a trusted official source or known-good backup.
- The detection appears to be a false positive.
- You understand the security risk of allowing old software to run.
If any of those points is uncertain, do not restore the quarantined file. Remove the incomplete installation and reinstall the complete application from the official source instead.
After reinstalling, run a full Microsoft Defender scan:
- Open Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Choose Scan options.
- Select Full scan.
- Select Scan now.
If the detection returns immediately, stop launching the program. Inspect the executable and its containing folder, and remove LogoManager if its origin or integrity cannot be established.

Fix 4: Check architecture and application paths
Available file-database records identify lmmsgtrans.dll as a Win32 or x86 DLL. That is consistent with legacy LogoManager software.
A 64-bit version of Windows can run many 32-bit applications. The fact that your computer uses 64-bit Windows does not mean that you need a 64-bit replacement DLL.
Do not copy the file into both system folders. On 64-bit Windows, System32 contains 64-bit system files, while SysWOW64 contains 32-bit system files. The names are confusing, and neither folder is the normal home for a private LogoManager DLL.
To check the application architecture:
- Open Task Manager with Ctrl + Shift + Esc.
- Select Details.
- Start LogoManager if it opens far enough to appear.
- Right-click the column headings.
- Select Select columns.
- Enable Platform, if that column is available.
- Check whether the process is 32-bit or 64-bit.
The exact display varies between Windows versions. You can also right-click the application executable, choose Properties, and inspect the Compatibility settings.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
If a 32-bit application fails on a modern system:
- Reinstall the original x86 application.
- Install it into a normal local directory.
- Right-click its shortcut.
- Select Properties.
- Open Compatibility.
- Try a compatible older Windows mode.
- Select Apply and OK.
- Start the application again.
Do not download a 64-bit DLL to replace a reported 32-bit file.

Fix 5: Repair missing Windows components
This is a lower-probability fix because lmmsgtrans.dll is not a Windows system file. Use it when other Windows applications are also failing, protected system files appear damaged, or the problem began after a broader system failure.
Run the commands from an elevated Command Prompt in this order.
Run DISM
- Open Start.
- Search for Command Prompt.
- Right-click it.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Select Yes at the User Account Control prompt.
- Enter:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Press Enter.
- Wait for the operation to finish.
- Keep the window open if DISM reports progress or repairs.
A successful result indicates that the component store was checked or repaired. If DISM reports that it cannot find source files, restart Windows, verify your internet connection, and consult Microsoft’s supported repair guidance rather than downloading system files from an unofficial source.
Run System File Checker
In the same elevated Command Prompt, enter:
sfc /scannow
Press Enter and wait until verification reaches 100 percent. Restart Windows afterward and test LogoManager.
SFC can repair protected Windows components. It is unlikely to recreate a third-party LogoManager DLL. If the same error remains, return to the LogoManager reinstall procedure.
If repeating DISM and SFC leaves you unsure which issue changed, Outbyte PC Repair can provide a scan that shows reported problems before repair; the repair functions require the full version, and reinstalling LogoManager remains the definitive fix for this application-specific DLL.
Fix 6: Check dependent runtimes only when the error names one
Do not install Visual C++ Redistributable packages simply because lmmsgtrans.dll is missing. Microsoft’s redistributables supply Microsoft C and C++ runtime libraries; they do not restore an arbitrary vendor DLL.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Install a Microsoft runtime only when:
- The error names a missing Microsoft runtime DLL.
- The LogoManager installer specifically requires it.
- A dependency diagnostic identifies a Microsoft runtime as missing.
For a 32-bit application on 64-bit Windows, the x86 redistributable is relevant. Installing only the x64 package does not supply 32-bit libraries.
Use Microsoft’s official Visual C++ Redistributable documentation and architecture guidance. After installing the appropriate package, restart Windows and test LogoManager again. If the error still names lmmsgtrans.dll, reinstall the parent application rather than adding more runtime packages.
Fix 7: Update or reinstall related drivers only when hardware is involved
LogoManager may communicate with an older Nokia phone through a cable or infrared connection, but a connection failure is different from a missing lmmsgtrans.dll error. Do not replace unrelated display, audio, chipset, or network drivers as a first response.
If Device Manager shows a warning for the phone cable or infrared hardware:

- Select Device Manager.
- Expand the relevant category, such as Ports (COM & LPT), Universal Serial Bus controllers, or Network adapters.

- Right-click the affected device.
- Select Properties.
- Read the Device status message.
- Open the Driver tab.
- Use Update Driver only with a driver from the hardware manufacturer or Windows Update.
- Restart Windows.
- Test the connection separately from the DLL error.
Do not use Device Manager to search random websites for a replacement DLL. Drivers and application DLLs are different types of files.
If manually identifying old hardware drivers is taking longer than expected, Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for reported driver issues and show what needs attention; driver installation through the full version is optional, and it will not replace the need to reinstall LogoManager when the application DLL itself is missing.
Does regsvr32 fix lmmsgtrans.dll?
Usually, no.
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that expose registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer. A normal private application DLL does not necessarily provide those functions. lmmsgtrans.dll is identified as a communications component for LogoManager, not as a documented self-registering COM component.
If you run:
regsvr32 lmmsgtrans.dll
you may receive an error stating that the module was loaded but the entry point was not found. That does not prove the file is corrupt. It may simply mean that registration is not applicable.

What not to do
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Do not download the DLL separately
Random DLL download sites can provide malware, an altered file, the wrong version, or the wrong architecture. A replacement may also fail because the real problem is a missing dependency, damaged installation, or an incorrect application path.
The safe sources are:
- The original official LogoManager installer
- A known-good backup of your own installation
- A trusted System Restore point
- The software’s current maintainer, if support is available
The best repair is a complete application reinstall, not a loose DLL copied from the internet.
Do not copy it to System32 or SysWOW64
Those folders are for Windows system components and correctly installed shared files. A private LogoManager DLL normally belongs beside the application that loads it.

The filename alone proves neither that the file is genuine nor that it is malware. Check:
- The full file path
- The parent executable
- The installer’s origin
- The digital signature, if present
- The antivirus detection
- The file’s hash, if the software maintainer provides one
There is no verified evidence here that every copy of lmmsgtrans.dll is digitally signed.

Is lmmsgtrans.dll malware?
Not necessarily. lmmsgtrans.dll is a real legacy third-party DLL associated with LogoManager. However, a real filename can be copied, renamed, or placed inside an unrelated malicious program.
Treat the file as suspicious when it is located in a temporary folder, a user profile folder unrelated to LogoManager, or beside an unknown executable. Scan the containing directory with Microsoft Defender and remove the parent program if its origin cannot be verified.
Should you uninstall LogoManager?
If you no longer use an older Nokia phone or have no reason to keep the software, uninstalling LogoManager is often safer than preserving an isolated DLL. Remove the application through Windows Settings or Programs and Features, restart Windows, and run a Defender scan.
If an error returns after removal, identify the executable that is still trying to load lmmsgtrans.dll. An old shortcut, scheduled task, startup entry, or leftover program may still be present.

Is lmmsgtrans.dll part of Windows?
No. Available evidence identifies it with Mike Bradley’s LogoManager software. It should not normally be present in Windows system directories.
Which program installs lmmsgtrans.dll?
The likely parent program is LogoManager, an older Nokia-phone management and customization application. Public evidence does not identify a current game or modern Windows application that installs it.
Is the file 32-bit or 64-bit?
Reported file metadata identifies it as Win32 or x86. A 64-bit Windows computer can run the original 32-bit application. Do not substitute a 64-bit DLL.
Will it work on Windows 10 or Windows 11?
That cannot be guaranteed from the available vendor material. LogoManager is legacy software and was primarily associated with older Windows versions. Reinstalling it and using compatibility settings may help, but current support is not established.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Should I register it with regsvr32?
Not normally. Registration applies only to DLLs designed to expose the appropriate registration entry points. Reinstall LogoManager instead.
What if the file exists but Windows still says it is missing?
The message may refer to a dependency that lmmsgtrans.dll needs. Reinstall the complete LogoManager application and check whether the error names another missing runtime or DLL.
What if antivirus quarantined it?
Review Windows Security Protection history. Restore it only after verifying that it came from a genuine LogoManager installation and that the detection is a false positive. Otherwise reinstall the complete application from a trusted source.
What should I do if nothing works?
Record the exact error, executable name, full file path, Windows version, antivirus result, and application architecture. If LogoManager is no longer needed, uninstall it. If it is required, seek a verified installer or support from the software’s current maintainer rather than downloading an isolated DLL.
