Xbox announced the game’s Game Pass availability at launch, but that dated announcement does not confirm it remains in every region’s catalog today.
What is Lords of the Fallen 2.0?
Version 2.0 is a substantial update to the 2023 Lords of the Fallen, not the separately listed Lords of the Fallen II. CI Games called it the game’s “definitive edition” and said it followed more than 50 post-launch updates. The update was free for existing owners on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Xbox Wire announced the Xbox launch on April 17, 2025; CI Games also described the release and its features in its version 2.0 announcement.

What changed in version 2.0?
Co-op, shared progress, and cross-play
Version 2.0 added shared-progression co-op and cross-play. According to CI Games, players share campaign progression and loot, while the host retains world progress. Xbox Wire also highlighted global matchmaking and improved online stability; that account was written by CI Games Marketing Director Ryan Hill, so its description is the developer’s perspective rather than independent testing.

It is a way to join that friend’s campaign, not a second full standalone copy: the host keeps world progress, while the guest’s character progression and loot persist between sessions, according to CI Games.

Combat, movement, and usability
The update adjusted combat and movement, expanded character creation, added a dedicated jump button, improved the interface, and revised the tutorial. Xbox Wire also called out automatic Vigor pickup, a guidebook, and lamp guidance that highlights Vestiges when the lamp is raised in Umbral. These are the changes the developers identified; the sources do not establish independent performance or gameplay benchmarks.
Is Lords of the Fallen currently on Xbox Game Pass?
Xbox Wire’s April 17, 2025 announcement said version 2.0 was live on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Game Pass. Xbox had also announced the game’s arrival on Game Pass for Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S on May 30, 2024, in its May 2024 Game Pass roundup. Those are historical announcements, not confirmation of current catalog availability.

The US Xbox Store listing currently presents the game as a paid purchase and says cloud play with Game Pass requires purchase. Store prices and subscription catalogs can vary by region and plan, so check the Game Pass catalog where you live before relying on subscription access. The Xbox Store lists the Xbox Series X|S release date as October 13, 2023.
Is version 2.0 still the latest major update?
No. CI Games released version 2.5 on December 11, 2025, and called it the final major update. The studio says it changed combat flow, made bosses and enemies more demanding, revamped boss weapons with new animations, and added Veteran Mode. CI Games also said the game had received more than 70 updates since launch and that its community had grown to more than 6 million “lampbearers”; those are the studio’s figures, and the community count is not a unit-sales claim. Should you play it solo or with a friend?
Version 2.0’s co-op changes make it easier to approach the campaign with a friend: cross-play, shared campaign progression, and the Friend’s Pass mean the second player does not necessarily need to buy a copy to join. If you want to play alone, the dedicated jump button, revised tutorial, combat adjustments, and interface changes are still part of the update. Choose your access route separately: confirm current Game Pass availability in your region, or check the store listing for a purchase option.
