The October 13 update addressed a reported disconnect issue affecting Franchise and Face of the Franchise; a later server-side fix targeted an Online Franchise league-joining problem; and a December data-storage incident corrupted some Franchise files. Here’s what EA said about each, and what players can reasonably take from those updates.
What did EA acknowledge about Madden 23 CFM connection issues?
EA’s updates described several different problems affecting Franchise and Online Franchise. The October patch addressed disconnects and lost progress; a later communication identified a server-side fix for a user unable to join an online league; and a separate December incident involved corrupted Franchise files. Treating these as one issue can make the scope of EA’s fixes—and the remaining risks—sound broader than EA said they were.

October’s disconnect fix was not a blanket CFM fix
EA’s October 13, 2022 Title Update 3 communication tied the patch to a particular reported disconnect issue across Franchise and Face of the Franchise. EA described players losing progress after disconnects and some Face of the Franchise players being unable to advance at contract negotiations.
EA explicitly warned that not all issues had been resolved, saying: “While not every issue has been resolved today, more fixes are coming with future updates as we continue to actively work to bring you the best possible experience.” The statement is important context: the update acknowledged and addressed a significant problem, but it was not a promise that every CFM connection or progression problem was fixed.

The later league-joining fix addressed a different problem
In its November 17, 2022 Franchise update, EA said server-side fixes had been delivered for key issues, including the 32nd user being unable to join an Online Franchise league. That is a distinct joining failure, not evidence that the October disconnect issue and every other league problem shared one cause.
EA also referenced an earlier October fix for a contract-signing bug that could stop progression to season 2. The communication treated that progression issue separately from the server-side league-joining fix.

December’s server incident could corrupt some Franchise files
The December 28–29 event was a separate data-storage incident. EA’s December 30 update said players trying to reach Franchise servers encountered an unavailable-leagues error during the stated window, and that some Franchise files were corrupted for players who logged into leagues during it. EA said leagues whose players had not logged in during that window were safe to access.
EA said it was working to restore some files using a backup. Its post does not establish that every affected file was recoverable, and it does not give a total count of affected players, leagues, or files. The incident should not be conflated with the October patch or represented as affecting every Franchise league.

What to try if Madden Franchise will not connect now
The historical updates explain problems EA acknowledged in 2022; they do not diagnose a current connection failure on a particular player’s system. EA’s current connection guidance recommends checking server status, installing available game, platform, and launcher updates, and following its connection troubleshooting steps. That page is general guidance for Madden and should not be mistaken for a Madden 23-specific historical patch note.
- Check whether the relevant EA service is reporting an outage before changing home-network settings.
- Install available updates for the game and the platform or launcher you use.
- If services appear available and updates are current, follow EA’s connection troubleshooting guidance and note the exact error and mode where it occurs.
A current failure could have a different cause from any of the 2022 incidents. The cited updates do not establish a player-specific diagnosis or show that buying a router, cable, repair utility, or other hardware fixes these acknowledged server-side problems.
