In an October 7 update, Push Square reported that the UK Mafia III listing had been pulled while the issue was addressed, and Call of Duty: WWII had returned to £54.99. Sony had not confirmed whether players who claimed either game during the brief free window would keep access.
What happened to the free PS4 listings?
Push Square reported that full-game listings for Mafia III and Call of Duty: WWII briefly appeared at no cost without requiring PlayStation Plus in the UK and several European markets. The report described the listings as an error being fixed, not a confirmed promotion. Its October 7 update said the UK Mafia III listing had been pulled and Call of Duty: WWII was again priced at £54.99. Push Square’s report and update

The report said the US did not receive the same full-game offer: it observed prices of $29.99 for Mafia III and $59.99 for Call of Duty: WWII. Those are prices reported for the US Store at the time, not guarantees of current or worldwide pricing. Sony’s US Store page identifies Mafia III: Definitive Edition as a PS4 game published by 2K and showed it at $29.99 during the reporting period. That page also lists a free demo and separate free add-ons; neither means the full game is free. Mafia III: Definitive Edition on the US PlayStation Store
What should you do if you claimed a copy?
Whether claims made during the free window will remain valid or be revoked has not been confirmed. Check your account’s game library for each title you claimed, and do not assume that a past claim guarantees continuing access. The available reporting does not establish Sony’s final decision.

How to check whether a full game is currently free in your region
- Open the PlayStation Store associated with your PSN account’s country or region.
- Find the specific full-game listing, rather than a demo, add-on, or similarly named bundle.
- Check the displayed price and edition while signed into that account. Store availability and pricing can vary by region, so another country’s listing or screenshot is not proof of what your account can claim.
- If the game is listed at no cost, review the final claim screen before confirming. If it shows a price, the temporary listing is not currently free for that account.
The report does not establish the present status of every European Store, so a current claim instruction cannot be given for all countries. Check the listing directly rather than relying on the earlier report.
How this differs from a PlayStation Plus Monthly Game
A temporary Store listing that displays a full game at no cost is different from a PlayStation Plus Monthly Game. Sony says Monthly Games can be added and played while the account has an active membership; PlayStation Plus is a recurring subscription. Sony also notes that game availability varies by region and subscription tier. PlayStation Plus games and availability

The unusual Store listings were not established as Monthly Games, and their status after a claim remains unresolved. Do not treat them as proof that a game has become part of the PS Plus lineup.

If you want to browse games that are free to play, use the PlayStation Store’s free-to-play section. It is a separate catalog, not evidence that either temporary full-game listing is still active. Free-to-play games on the US PlayStation Store
