Mafia: The Old Country is a released, linear crime story set in early-1900s Sicily. At its May 8, 2025 announcement, publisher 2K said it was designed for players who want a compelling story without a “massive time commitment”—but it did not give a playtime figure. The Standard Edition’s announced launch price was $49.99, and the game was announced for August 8, 2025 worldwide.
What the publisher meant by “massive time commitment”
2K President David Ismailer said, “We think there’s a large audience for compelling stories that don’t require massive time commitments.” Hangar 13 described the game as a focused, linear experience, not a sprawling checklist of open-world activities. That is a statement about the game’s intended structure and audience, not a measured runtime guarantee.

Neither 2K’s announcement nor its product page gives a number of hours to finish the story. So the announcement does not establish whether a particular player will finish in a weekend, nor does it support a precise comparison with another game. It signals a more directed narrative experience; it does not promise a specific length.
What kind of Mafia game is it?
The story follows Enzo Favara in Sicily in the early 1900s as he joins the Torrisi crime family. Hangar 13 President Nick Baynes called it “a focused, linear experience” combining storytelling, immersion in its historical setting, and familiar Mafia gameplay. He said that focus lets the team deliver a story that is “gritty, grounded, brutal and emotional.”

2K describes the game as a third-person action-adventure. Its listed activities include melee and firearm combat, stealth, horseback travel, and driving early motorcars. Calling it linear describes its narrative approach; the available official descriptions do not establish every detail of how open or explorable each area is.
Release date and platforms
The dated May 8, 2025 announcement set the worldwide release for August 8, 2025. The 2K product page’s release-date field lists August 7, 2025, a one-day difference between the two official references. The game is now released. The announcement listed PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, and also named NVIDIA GeForce NOW.
