When was Mafia: The Old Country revealed?
2K and Hangar 13 announced Mafia: The Old Country on August 20, 2024. The announcement presented it as a new action-adventure entry in the Mafia franchise, alongside a teaser released during Gamescom coverage. At the time, the stated release window was 2025, with no exact launch day given.

What did the first teaser reveal?
The teaser focused on tone and setting rather than explaining specific gameplay systems. Xbox’s official description called it: “Uncover the origins of organized crime, in a gritty mob story set in the brutal underworld of 1900s Sicily.” It also promised a closer look in December 2024. That initial reveal established the broad premise, historical setting and platforms. It did not provide the eventual launch date or the fuller character story later shared by the publisher.
What is Mafia: The Old Country about?
Later official story details identified Enzo Favara as the central character. An orphaned laborer, Enzo joins Don Torrisi’s crime family in early-1900s Sicily. The setup places the player in the origins of organized crime, before the series’ familiar twentieth-century American settings.
