In a 2022 GamesBeat interview, the actor described the physical approach she brought to the role, the mixed emotions around public attention, and the unexpected community platform it gave her.
How theater training shaped Robertson’s performance
Asked what she could bring to game acting, Robertson pointed to her theater background. In performance capture, she said, the performer’s body carries the storytelling when conventional sets, costumes and makeup are absent. “I think a theater background is so important, especially in this kind of performance capture work, because it’s about the storytelling of your body.”

Robertson also drew on animal studies, using feline movement as a starting point for her interpretation of Lady Dimitrescu. She described the character as “kind of cat-like”: sensual and curvy, but unhurried. That combination informed a deliberate physicality in her performance. These were Robertson’s choices and interpretation, rather than a documented production formula.
What stood out about Lady Dimitrescu
Robertson said the character’s visual design communicated a lot before she spoke. Capcom’s design gave her an immediate set of ideas about who Lady Dimitrescu was, helping her begin to understand the character. The interview shares the actor’s response to the design; it does not offer a detailed history of how Capcom developed it.

Why the reveal felt surreal
When Lady Dimitrescu was revealed, Robertson was still under NDA and could not share that she was the performer behind the role. She recalled experiencing the reaction without being able to discuss it with people close to her. The scale of attention exceeded what she had imagined, and she described the experience as “so surreal.”
She had also worried before release about fetishizing attention and the possibility of harassment. Robertson acknowledged that harassment exists, while describing the community response she encountered as overwhelmingly positive. The interview gives her personal account, not figures measuring either kind of response.

The platform Robertson says the role gave her
Robertson said she was grateful that the role gave her a platform to create a safe space for different communities, including LGBT+ people. “I’m incredibly grateful for it. It’s given me a platform to create a safe space for lots of different communities, like the LGBT+ community.” This describes how she understood her opportunity; the interview does not measure the platform’s reach or its effects.
Watching the game when someone else’s face is the character
Robertson found it liberating that Helena Mankowska was the face model for Lady Dimitrescu. Because the character’s face was not her own, Robertson said she could watch the finished game more like a fan instead of concentrating on criticizing her performance. She wondered how Mankowska felt about the attention, but did not claim to know her perspective.

What the role changed in Robertson’s career
Lady Dimitrescu was Robertson’s first video-game role. Asked whether it opened doors, she was careful not to assign a cause: she had acquired an agent a week before the game came out and could not tell whether new auditions and bookings came from that, the award, or both.
The interview was conducted in the offstage winners’ room at the DICE Awards, where Robertson had won Outstanding Achievement in Character. Dean Takahashi’s edited GamesBeat interview was published March 5, 2022 and updated June 19, 2025.
